# 1 How is the Foundry?

I can not log onto tribble for some reason, so I'm wondering how the foundry is performing? In your opinion how close to being released on the holodeck is it?

most of the problems are just silly little bugs. clear them up and in my view its ready. (some issues with animation and costume, the npc pathfinding in interior maps etc) how long those bugs take it fix though is anybody's guess.

although keep in mind they plan to keep adding and improving it as it goes along so there is no 'finished product' or clear line that says its ready with the foundry, so it all comes down to if the devs want to add and test any new features before its ready to go live.

but at this stage its possible to make some pretty great missions and im happy with its general performnace.

It's getting there... some issues are in desperate need of fixing while other features need to be added. Overall I would say it is working well for what is available.

If they would just fix the wandering/idle stuff and the NPC pathing, I'd be happy. I'm mostly happy with it now.

Oh, and the NPC ship costuming bug that was introduced last update needs to be sorted out. That is making a lot of peoples missions look really strange.

Far away.

Missing:
Ship costumes for NPC contacts (they're coded in but not appearing; every NPC contact ship looks the same)
XP for completing missions
Pathing needs work
Destructible objects
Wandering

There are still some bugs, but the Foundry is pretty stable itself. There are a lot of features we all want that are still missing, but that doesn't necessarily stops The Foundry from going live.

Assuming they want to enable the Foundry on Holodeck "soonish", they need to do two things:
- Fix Bugs (costumes, NPC wandering, pathfinding and line-of-sight/effect and so on)
- Start testing the rewards system for mission completion.

Both used to work better a while back, though pathing definitely needs more options.

I think it needs a bunch of features added before it is truly ready for release. Things like better conversations, importing and exporting of maps and costumes, better controls on aggro, and a couple of other such things.

And, of course, needs some bugs fixed.

That said, if they fix the bugs, what they have could go live as a barebones version.

But I do think that doing so would cause issues when some aspects, like conversations and the aggro controls, could cause issues with how the data is stored. So it'd be better to get any major changes in first, rather than rushing it to live. Doing so could cause the programmers to have to deal with legacy code, making things messier than they need to be. Get it done while it is only on Tribble and you can wipe the slate clean, avoid that issue.

There are some people that will never think its ready because of their own personal overreaction to various minor issues and unrealistic expectaions. However, most rational people understand that no system in an MMO is ever bug free or will ever have every feature people want on its initial release. Personally, I think it could be ready to go live in a months time.
