# 1 Any use for the Luna?

So I'm mostly using my Nebula with my sci officer, but I was wondering if anyone has found that the Luna continues to be worth using or, if you want a fast ship, you're always better off with the Intrepid refit?

I love my RSV, and wouldn't trade it in for an Intrepid. Ever. It's great for straight up wrecking people.

Even if you're looking for a fast ship (via turn rate), the RSV has a higher turn rate than the Intrepid.

Still rocking the Luna myself. Speed wise the Luna and Intrepid feel the same to me. Really it comes down to what you want me, the extra tactical boff and console or the science boff and the ablative armor. Personally I find the ablative armor is only useful as an "oh crap" button and I benefit more from the added tactical power.

The luna is the bestestes of the best science ships unless you want only science or a hybrid healer build....

The RSV is a phantastic offensive sci ship and it turns like a dream. The 2. tac ensign allows to fit a Tac Team in without sacrificing whatever (just great against Borg). This ship would be perfect as an attack vessel with Dual Beam Banks if not all the saucer options would have totally stupid weapon hardpoints, so it looks just ugly firing dual beams.

It's nice...the so called "VA" ships really have no edge on it (except, perhaps, the Nebula's hull boost - but it comes with a loss in maneuverability ).

If you outfit it with 3x consoles boosting your energy weapons, it can almost overcome the science vessel's lack of damage; If you use 3x torpedo consoles, you get a nice bomber...getting through shields might get tricky, but is feasible with the right powers

This said, the poor Luna class suffers from the current skills tree setup: if you spec'd / respec'd to try out the Intrepid/Nebula, you won't be very effective with it. My trusty Luna sits in the shipyard, covered in space dust.

The sooner they narrow the T5 skills to just "escort, cruiser, science", the better

I run the luna like its an escort, dual beam bank, cannon, quantum torp, x3 turrets rear

cannon rapid fire, beam overload, high yield.

B/c thats kind of a lame escort I make up for it with sci powers and lots of heals.

tachyon beam 3, charged particle burst 3, tractor beam various haz emmiters, tranfer shield str and sci team

emergency power to weapons, rsp

I use tractor beam, engine batteries, and evasive maneuvers and target engines to continuously face my opponent and unleash cannon rapid fire.

Any ship can be deadly in capable hands. The Luna is no exception.

I'd be greatly interested in hearing about your RSV builds, as I had one before I quit and greatly enjoyed, and would now like to get back into it. Since a lot has changed since tho, i could use some help with setting up the BO layout and stuff.
Oh, btw, i'm an Engineering Captain.

What are you looking to do? Shield strip, crowd control, etc.

Eng/RSV is a great combo.
