Since Season 4 launched, I've noticed a growing trend of players queing for ground pvp, with toons that mimic Security Escorts.
Those familiar with ground combat will know that Security Escort III is the name of npc escorts which tactical captains can beam in for assistance.
I was in a match today with not one, but three different players all with names like Security Escort III.
When targetting these impersonators, its very difficult to be sure you have an actual player targetted, or an npc. All these Security Escort impersonators have also dressed up their toons to look just like the npcs. Further more, since Season 4, npc Security Escorts now appear just like real players on the area map with the same shaped icon, so are indistinguishable.
I personally see this sort of tactic rather unfair, gaining an unfair advantage over other players.
I'd like to know what people's thoughts are regarding this. Is it exploiting? Is it fair play? Should this be allowed by the Devs and/or GMs?
Only one of these impersonators is actually a good PvP player (I think that is... he always seems to beam out of my matches against him...) and doesn't really need to resort to such a tactic. The rest of the "Security Escort III" look-alikes don't really bother me just because they die just as quickly as the NPC's.
To be honest I think it was a very smart move by the origanal player who did this. Very tactical thinking. I find nothing wrong with it. What I really hate at the moment is lunge III god thats annoying.
Yeah, I've seen quite a few of these players popping up. Personally, I find it annoying and rather frustrating at times. It may be seen as 'good tactics', but really, that's taking tactics a little too far.
You'd have to be desperate to name yourself that, and even clothe yourself like that...geez.
