the TV series were good, but its time to make another XD this time, in the "Extended" Universe, the one from the MMO in the year 2409 would make a great place to start XD the renewal of the klingon war, the intability of the romulans! the return of the Borg!, species 8472 "Undine" infiltration, the emergence of the Cardassian True Way.
This would make a great starting point for a new TV series! and as it advances in Seasons the "Commander" could advance in rank starting at Lieutenant in Season 1 and so forth.
i say the "Captain" should be a Women A Vulcan who eventually grows her hair long, or a Trill Female.
Reasons:
the ratio between male and female captains is somewhat... unbalanced
cpt. Archer, cpt. kirk, cpt, picard, cmd. Sisko
vs
cpt. Janeway...
(i'm not sure where to post this idea to actually see it happen or who to send it to so i'm putting it up here to see what kind of a response we can get for it XD who knows, enough likes, and someone might take notice) d('-'d)

Dude writing one right now with a friend of mine. I already have a timeframe in mind. 2466 plenty of time after next generation and this game. Because we dunno how long this game is going to last or even make some of the events cannon. Though I do plan on still using the events of 2387-2388 as in Star Trek XI but ignore the rest of the movie as that is an alternate timeline. Plus its around the time Q stated we should be in the Delta Quadrant
i dont think CBS will make a new show in the prime universe whilst the JJverse still has a few more films left...even then a new show would probably follow on from the new films.
TBH i think the TNG/DS9/VOY universe is dead as far as tv/films go...for a while at least
i think cbs have already turned down a couple of ideas. the reason was they felt the brand become over saturated and was the reason for the decline and while the films are going they dont want a new tv show.
which i can understand that i dont agree with it. the quality of the last series and nemesis were just not as good as what went before it. if they make a new show and do it right i dont see the problem of having a film and a show on at the same time, although the two realities might make it confusing for casual fans.
hopefully someone will get the message one day that we want a star trek show on.

Have you seen the figure for the box office here in the states? They are not very good nor is the trend. Even though we still have 3 billion dollar movies it still did not make up for crap. Plus what are the odds of a sequels succeeding, as far as I know not very much but not extraordinarily bad it is a hit or miss with more than 200 million riding on it. It is not a very good gamble. That is likely to blow up in their face with those transformers writers. *yeesh* Plus I do believe the new movie ****ed off or bothered a decent amount of old fans. So that might hurt them in the long run.
TBH I was following more along the lines of skipping ahead a century after TNG that way there is more chance for content where the JJverse would be problematic at best since there is still fans to appease. Think about what TNG did for the TOS they skipped ahead almost a hundred years after the original series. Provides some more stories to be told that are actually new and not recycled. It died because they ran it into the ground and ran so many different productions that they just got stale. Besides let Paramount have the movies. CBS has the series.
mirror universe is dark, and often accompanied by horrible acting (aka mirror archer... i wanted him to die the minute i saw him.) This will never... i repeat NEVER happen. sorry

Look at the box officer figures. Look at the critical acclaim. For every old Star Trek nerd they upset (many over the most dubious of nerdy reasons), they won over several new fans. It breathed life into the franchise, and in the long run that's a great thing. I daresay Enterprise did more damage to the franchise than anything else, as it neither attracted new audiences nor was recieved well by many of Star Trek's oldest fans.
And it's only been a little over half a decade since Enterprise came to an end. There was almost 20 years between TOS and TNG... it could very well be that long until we get a new series, and that very would COULD be for the best. Maybe we need Star Trek to simmer in the back of people's minds for a decade or so until people, and not just the die hard Trekkies/Trekkers, are ready for a new series. I will get ENT this: they had the right idea. Some parts of TNG/VOY/DS9 era were starting to get more and more complicated, and become less and less accessible to the casual fan. It was overly saturated, and with three series either running together or close together it became a bit to keep track of. Enterprise was, if nothing else, a fresh start (like TNG before it).
That's the difficult key to it all though: familiarity, but fresh. It needs to be definitively Star Trek, with Romulans and Klingons and whacky adventures in space, but it needs to be able to stand on its own merits. Maybe that means a throwing it in a different time period... or maybe not. If done properly, the show could take place during the same period as any of the other shows, or between TOS and TNG, or even just a few years after the end of the Dominion War, with the emphasis back on the Federation going out and seeking new life and new civilizations. Doesn't have to be a huge jump ahead like TOS to TNG, though that would be another option. Heck, wouldn't mind if it takes place in the new timeline... maybe do what ENT wanted to, but failed to do.
But I'm not gonna hold my breathe: world isn't ready for a new Star Trek series yet I think. Sci-Fi in general struggles to draw in viewers, and the memory of the "eh" that is Enterprise is still fresh in the minds of many TV audiences and network executives. The absolute best thing we could hope for is for the continued success of the new films.
