I'm a tactical officer, and with the last Q weekend I finally got my Klingon grind up to Lt. Gen. Up till yesterday I was in the Bird of Prey, and switched to the Raptor. Don't really have as much fun in it, but heard the Raptor is better for the Tacs. So....
Based off your experiences as a Tac, is it in my best interest to stay in Raptor? Or will I be just fine keeping up in a Bird Of Prey PvP wise?
Please don't state the obvious about universal bridge officers, and ship specs, I know this.
That's the silliest thing I've ever heard in sto... While I'm not really a big raptor fan (aesthetics as well as turn axis makes it seem silly looking) it's hardly the worst ship on the klingon side.
He's right as far as the bop being the best all arounder for pvp as a tac, the raptor is probably best for pure focus dps.
There is no ship worse than the Raptor on the klingon side. The closest contender is the Goomba and due to better shielding/better turning/more defensive BO layout, it is still better. All the cruisers are good, Voquv/Gorn/Karfi may not excel but Comm scis are still useful, and both birds are better.
So yes, if OP wants an escort equiv, the Goomba is better than the Raptor. Otherwise for the best damage dealer, go Bird of Prey.
All the posts above are right to a degree. I fly a raptor I love the raptor. It is not equivalent to its fed cousins (escorts) but it can be used effectively. In a pre-made most KDF ships are at a disadvantage that is why do not see alot of KDF pre-mades in any tourneys. The feds have a ship pretty much for every type of hybrid build. Now if you are pugging with buddies that have good builds to help you with doing dailies and non-premade PvP the raptor works. You cannot out turn a any fed escorts you can try but adding RCS will just make you that much more a liability. With the full borg set the raptor is tough in battle. I am not into serious Pre-made PvP and my ship will melt in the what is for the most part cookie cutter PvP that is Pre-Made PvP. Again it depends on your playstyle and what is more fun to you.
I ran a BoP like what was mentioned and I hated it, I either had burst(alpha) or no burst (waiting for things to come off CD)
