I just hit the Lower Admiral rank and I'm wondering whether I'm doing anything wrong because... in fact... I have never switched my Bridge Officers up to now! I.e.: Same faces all of the time! Of course I have switched their abilities several times via captain training and bridge officer trainer's training, but the people are the same. So my questions:
1. Is this ok/normal to stay at the same crew for all the time?
In my opinion it even makes less sense to change the BOffs when advancing in the game, because I would lose now many trained points (4x9 per BOff)
2. Is there a list of abilities around which can NOT be trained by a bridge officer trainer but can only be obtained by rare/very rare BOffs?
3. Which of those rare abilities would you recommend to use for my tactical BOffs (being a tactical captain leading a Fleet Escort ship)?
1 Is it Ok to keep the same crew all the time? Well yes there are no issues with keeping the same officers the whole way through levelling up, along as you have officers commissioned to man all the stations on your ship. However at VA you may want to have a few additional officers for having different Bridge officer setups on your ship. I myself often keep the first few officers you get when starting a new character.
2 Yes there are many abilities that can be obtained only from rare or very rare officers here is a quick list of some of the useful powers.
Beam Overload 3
Canon Scatter Volley 3
Attack Pattern Delta 3
And level 3 versions of the target subsystems ability
Auxiliary power to structural integrity field 3
Boarding party 3
Reverse Shield Polarity 3
Aceton Field 3
Energy Siphon 3
Tractor Beam Repulse 3
Tykenís Rift 3
Transfer Sheild Strength 3
Viral Matrix 3
3 As a tactical captain in a fleet escort skills that your captain can train such as Cannon rapid fire 3 will be very useful. But in terms of the abilities you may want to acquire from a Boff there is one that stands out the most. Beam overload 3 is a great skill and provides a huge damage potential. The only down side is that I am sure it will cost over 2 million energy credits to purchase one of these officers from the exchange!
