# 1 T5 Akira Class Go or No-Go?
10-30-2011, 11:47 AM
A few months ago Cryptic hinted in an engineering report that we would see an Akira Class vessel at Tier 5; With the news of the Thunderchild class in the C-Store I was hopeful, imagine my sadness when it was not to be so that it would be a Tier 5 offering.
While I'm still hopeful that the collapsing of the skill tree may be a step in the direction of getting an Akira Class at Tier 5, I am concerned that the idea to have that vessel available for Admirals has been scrubbed.

I would like to request a clarification from Cryptic as to whether we will ever see the Akira class or even a Thunderchild C-Store variant at tier 5, if only to give closure to myself and the other fleet captains waiting on the vessel with baited breath.
Please let us know, is a Tier 5 Akira coming or are we simply dreaming?

Thank you for reading and hopefully for responding.

Respectfully,
Mundane

Anyone that feels as I do, or disagrees with my wish, please feel free to voice your opinion as well; It'd be great to have a discussion as to whether this is something the community wishes as a whole.

ive been hearing about this t5 akira everyone wants it seems like forever. i agree i want it too but at this stage i dont think crytic care. the official word seems non existent. sometimes ignorance isnt bliss. if cryptic keeps putting their fingers in their ears and ignoring us then this games going to have a self destruct eventually.

Dude, Everyone wants his special and favorite ship be released @ Tier 5. Retrofit.

Just face it, its not going to happen. Not with the akira, not with a conny, no just no.

Why? Because Cryptic thinks they can make better money supporting the newbies playing the Rank Lieutenant for 2 months before the rank up to Lieutenant commander. Buy a Tier 2 ship for 2 months... Yeh that sounds like its valuable to do so.

friggin joke. you keep the dumb excelsior, oldest ship in the fleet, and the newest escort nest to the defiant dosn't get a refit, oh wait u get a new skin. whitch i think looks good, and a console witch i imagine klinks would want nerfed at some point, but still , even if you had the same BO's as the defiant or even the fleet escort i wouldnt mind as much, friggin joke when so called 200 year old ship still around, what ever happend being an admiral and keepin the ship in the fleet kinda like the Riker and the galaxy X,, lol
Wish there was a way so any ship can get a rifet with restriction. , cause u an't going to refit the some of those so called older ships or little bugger like the nova or kirks ship to stand up agiants bigger and newer, but that being said.

that being said maybe they can make the retrofits be able to get reclassed for 1 level higher than what there at now, so you dont get a teir 1 to teir 5, but you can refit a teir 1 to teir 2 and 2 tier to teir3,
something to be able to keep that ship just a bit longer.

akira needs be tier 4 at least if not tier 5, just cause the akira was a newer state art escort.
another ship we need in game, that was still in use during the dominion war is the Sioux(sp?) class
despite its small miranda style hull she was a war ship with forward cannons and a rear mounted turret(point defence system, best view of this class in any star trek is tng episode where kelsy kramer plays captain of a ship stuck in a time loop for 80 years, as the ship exits the temporal rupture and collides with enterprise you can clearly see the ships point defence cannon. this a ship that should be in game at about tier 3 or 4, in episode of ds9 when federation fleet retakes ds9 several sioux class ships can be seen in fleet along with miranda's.

Won't disagree on that, though like others have said I really don't see this happening at least not soon.

It's Soyuz class, and we don't know that it was in service during the Dominion war. For all we know it was retired after it came out of that rift. And we also don't know what those modifications were. For all we know it was an upgraded sensor package so they could do a little long range spying of the Klingon boarder. I'll have to take your word on the DS9 fleet that retook the station in Favor the Bold, because I just watched that episode this past weekend and don't recall seeing any Soyuz class ships but I wasn't really looking for them.

Bogus.
There were only normal Mirandas seen in the Dominion War.
The Soyuz class was from the time befor Star Trek 6 and was even retired before the time of the movie, as mentioned in the only episode the Soyuz class ever appeared "Cause and Effect".

Michael Okuda who drew the model design for that episode stated those were sensors not "cannons".
Why does everyone think this is Star Wars where everything has to be mounted on weapon turrets?

If Cryptic/PW make a T5 Akira before they launch more new ships, (Andorian, Ambassador Class, etc.), then I'm leaving the game permanently. I want what was promised in the game and I want to see them offer up something in about the approximate amount of time it was promised before re-fitting a ship for a 2nd time that is currently in the game.
