I was think last night of an item that won't cause alot of hate if placed in a grab bag. (This was after I popped the bug on the very last box I was going to be able to get).

This is also supported by actions that have taken place in canon. Offer a faction ship to the other side. The Feds could recieve a captured BOP, and the Klingons could recive a captured Defiant. Or something along thoes lines. The ships would be rare, but not game breaking. If a player doesn't get the ship, they wouldn't be denied the experiance of playing it, they would just have to level an alt toon.

This is just my thoughts, I'm intrested to hear what others think of this idea.

I think the best grab-bad idea I can come up with is this:
Make anything that comes out of a grab-bag unbound, that way we can trade it whenever and to whoever we want!!
And if Cryptic was all that into the Holiday Season and the Spirit of Giving, that's what they would've done with the Jem Hadar ships.

It is unbound, until you use it.

Grab bag is fine as long as the odds of success are openly presented or the game does not involve real money. Make a game that gives you some common rewards and also gives a daily prize ticket. At the end of the day, a random number selector determines 5 or 10 winner for the day to receive the ship and a larger number for secondary prizes (say 1000-200). A player can get as many tickets as they have characters that complete the daily game, but will only win one ship per account (that prevents the situation of someone having multiple while others have none complaint. A player can still win multiple secondary prizes that would not be bound so the can be sold or given away. A more player friendly game, and if a person wants to buy tickets via C-store then it is a max of 2 per account each day.

That's what I meant, make it so people can unbind it (or so it'd never bind in the first place) and use it for as long as they like and then pass it along to someone else.

If Cryptic is true to their word and will eventually remove the Jem Hadar ship from the C-Store and the Winter Event... then allowing the community to circulate and re-use the ship is a great gift from Cryptic to the community.

If I were Cryptic, I'd actually introduce a new product into the C-Store... an "empty crate" that allows a player to unbind the Jem Hadar (and perhaps other items) and trade it or sell it to others.

That would be, Giving, in my book! Not to mention those "empty crates" would sell like hotcakes.

To sum up, offer an item in truly limited quantity, and then allow the community to re-distribute the item by selling another item needed in the re-distribution process.

I'm only ever cool with grab bags if the prizes are novelties, i tend to have a problem with them if they, for example, contain arguably the best escort in the game.

Then again, I've got sense enough not to go near them, but I might just buy a few if the item was a novelty I wanted and if Cryptic can make STO into something I'd spend money on again in the first place.

Good stuff, i just wish it wasn't involving an OP ship.

Honestly after flying the bug around, I don't think it is overpowerd. It is diffrent than everyother escort, but still well balanced. Its more of a glass cannon than the Defiant, but turns better. The universial consoles alow for an intresting BO configuration. I'm using 2 hull heals, and a shield heal, along with a tractor beam, and a reverse shield poloraity.

I would agree to say that a Klingon Carrier would have to be in the grab bag idea, but lets not get to excited we need to have Cryptic say yes or no to the idea! I also like the idea of making it a crate that is not bound til you equip it and make it character specific a lot like the Jem'Hadar Escort is.
