# 1 A new Star Trek Series
01-15-2012, 05:21 AM
Hi All

I am sure most of us if not all has heard of a rumor of some one named Foster made a pitch to CBS for a new star trek series. http://www.giantfreakinrobot.com/tel...e-voyager.html . There are many other sites which say the same thing on google and last night I hard that they are looking for writers. Does anyone else have any more information about this? Personally we all want a new star trek series and I think it is the write time. While the new movie has just started fimling.

I heard about this and assume it went nowhere. I'm pretty sure it's a lot older than that news story suggests since I read basically exactly the same thing in like 2009 when Star Trek relaunched.
That and I've heard several people from the industry say they'd likely wait until the current movies were done (at least 3 most likely) before doing another series.

I just hope the scifi grimdark fad is over before they shoot it. I got soooo tired of that in BSG. When Stargate Universe started, I punched myself in the head.

I don't think a tv series was ever out of the picture but rather, in which direction should they take it.

SGU was boring in the beginning. Truly snail paced.
It's sad because it DID get GOOD towards the end. But it was too late. Most stopped watching it and it got cancelled.

If Star Trek ever resembles SGU in anyway then the franchise is dead to me forever. BSG remake and SGU were some of the worst trash to ever go on TV, they lasted way too long.

They didnt combine on purpose with films coming out, though it would seem so, because for TOS and TNG series and films the same crews were used. It seems Foster has been busy with this for the past years, going back to 2006. A new series is bound to pop up every ten years at least, and that should be right, about ten years ago Enterprise was introduced. Star Trek is as big as a cult, and it will never disappear. It is the emodyment of what we all want the world to be: a Utopia, where all can live together in peace *Imagine by John Lennon playing in the background*
