The info that was said was that the new Odyssey Variant for the C-store will have Saucer Sep Capabilities and a Deployable Escort. While the Bortasqu will deploy a small Bird of Prey and probably still have it's Cloak.
Should we really Copy the Odyssey? I mean sure the Bortasqu will also have cloak (I'm assuming). But why not instead of giving it that deployable Bird of Prey, give it a Hanger slot so we can choose what it can deploy. And just make it so that it's hanger bay can't work while Cloaked. Then you can give it a new Bird of Prey Deployable that is better then the normal Bird of Prey, but it can only be launched from the new Bortasqu.
Just my thoughts/suggestions and such on this subject.
I have no idea.. maybe we'll see something more next week about it. But right now the KDF flagship is a joke and I am not sure thaat with out some serious re-imagining taht its going to be all that much inproved even with the hard coded BOP pet. (wwhich I am hoping with be handled like the SCI pet of the vulcan D'kyr science ship. They still haven't made up thier minds about what they're going to do with the C-Store Odyssey. But its certainly sounds like it going to be a VERY powerfull ship,
Consdiering how nerfed the cloak ability is on the Bortas they can just keep the damd cloak off the ship and give the ship a better turn mode so it at least ACTS like a KDF battle cruiser. Right now it has the absolutly worst turn mode in the game when factoring in its other lackings and with nothing to make up for it. It's got a crippled cloak thats just an accident waiting to happen to some KDF player that has no idea that everyone and thier mother can see them approching from over twice thier weapons range.
The current stock Tier 5 Bortas is a three legged targe, blind in one eye with a broken jaw. it is an unsafe ship to take into battle. It is crippled in its manuverability and its cloak is less then useless. Its console and bridge officer layout has no saving graces to speak of. It is weak, and it is pathetic.
My fed character has been able to craft a viable build for the stock T-5 Odyssey that is both capable and deadly and even with the Odyssey's less then steller turn mode is still more capable then any other stock Federation tier 5 cruiser with the single acception of the Excelsior refit which has better manuverability but a slightly weaker hull and a less capable BOFF and Console layout.
I would have rather prefered they left off the pets and the Hangar bays and focused on amking the BortaS a warship, a battleship in fact. Tanky and heavy in firepower capability.
The Spinal disruptor would be a start and a putting the Universal Ensign BOff slot back is a good follow up but the Bortie needs something more unique than fed replication. It needs that Klingon, pride of the fleet feel and function to it.
I would like it to have extra Armor/ Alloy slots or some built in simple Turrets that do not count against its 4/4 weapon loadout, or possible just an inherent damage resistance modifier to ALL damage to represent the thick armor it must have to give it the slow turn rate that it posseses.
Or possible some new armor consoles that are only availible on it at T5.
It will most likely never happen ( though I would gladly spend the money on ithe +1BortaS in the Cstore if it had it.)
Mark Xs seemed fair for the Console
Ablative Nuetronium alloy mkX
Rare ship engineering console
Battle Cruiser, Carriers, Support Vessels
+16 kinetic damage resistance
+16 All damage resistance
+ 28 Phaser damage resistance
+28 Disruptor damage resistance
+28 Plasma damage resistance
as a Mark 12 would put the gains up as equal to the best rated Nuetronium Alloy console and the best Ablative console one can have ingame and would bring forth cries of OP. If the above idea was made as a Unique console Useable only on the BortaS (though removable if you wish) it does not seem to be too bad an item.
The Bio-Nueral Tactical defense turrets need to remain mark Xs for similiar reasons.
Bio-Nueral Tactical Defense system mkX (x2 fore/x2 aft)
360 degree firing arc - 7km range
damage 60 (90 dps)
As a mark X (actually the damage out put is closer to mk4) but with a good accuracy bonus and not taking up any weapon slots, plus its slightly shorter range, the idea seems fairly balanced in that it will give a bonus to DPV/DPS but only when you target is close but not push the output to an OP level when buffed by CSV/CRF.
I doubt it will ever see the light of day since the Devs seem to think everybody wants more pets on the KDF side of things. Me, I'd rather see the BortaS become the gun boat it should be (imo).
Besides, Given that the Odysses+1 cstore variant is going to have Saucer-Seperation, and Auxillary escort craft and the ability to launch the "worker Bee" drones as a form of added defense it seems fair that we get a Auxillary BoP or Raptor pet, the Heavy Disruptor Cannon and one or both of the ideas I proposed.
Frankly the idea of a Stasis Console that stuns me as well as others seems lack luster to the "worker Bees" of the Ody.
It would lean the Ody towards being a tanky vessel with damage capability and the Bortie as a damage capable vessel with a pechant for tankyness.
As it's so slow, I think something to mitigate that, like Heavy Turrets could be intresting.
My only worry with these new flagships is that they'll obsolete every other cruiser, and we'll see nothing but this ship that's suppsedly new and expensive to produce. In all honesty, I think these ships, along with the Galaxy X becoming "tier 6" when it happens would allow them to be as good as they're meant to be without totally eclipsing their peers.
I think the deployable ships idea is rubbish on both sides though, it makes little sense to integrate an escort into a battle cruiser. There's already so much pet spam as well. Saucer sep is one thing, there's a tradeoff, but what tradeoff is there from deploying an escort? None, but it'll up DPS plenty. With no trade off.
