I recently set up my ship with mark XI (blues and purples). [Acc] and [Dmg]

Three dual heavy cannons up front and three turrets in the rear with a Hargh'peng launcher up front for good measure.

I used to run phasers and beams to try to target shields with a proc or targeting the sub-system. But now I can strip shields like crazy!

I head into a fight and can drop a shield facing and keep it down like nobody's business. I don't see Tetryon recommended too often on the boards here. What are your thoughts on Tetryon weapons?

Yep, you are crazy :p

Seriously though, there could be a couple explanations for this.

1. They are broke. Their special ability goes off to often.
2. You are running with [Acc] now, and before you weren't.
3. Your tactical consoles have a higher value then before
4. The people you are going up against don't have very good gear, so therefore your higher lvl gear drops their shields.

These are just some things I thought of in a couple minutes. I am sure someone out there can think of more.

The fact that you went from beams to cannons I'm sure have nothing to do with it.

Well, I had always run with cannons and turrets, I just had one beam array up front on two of my ships to try to get use of targeting shield subsystems.

Generally though I run dual heavy cannons with a single torp launcher.

I've yet to try them myself, but quite a few members of my fleet swear by Tetryons, and are among the better PVPers I've encountered.

The only thing I can suggest is that the longer you fire at someone, the more susceptible they will be to damage as tetryon weapons drain shield power... Which is in turn tied to damage resistance.

at one point the proc was broke and no one used them. Maybe tet proc was fixed finally ?

Could be. I decided to give them a try as my playing mindset is all about dropping or removing shields ASAP. Or circumventing them (Hargh'peng).

It really seems to me that I can make a run at an enemy and by the time I wiz by they already have significant structural damage.

For the longest time I ran a tetryon cannon build on my escorts. It could strip quickly on the procs, but the dmg itself was less than what I primarily use now(plasma-disruptors). Even with the fixed dmg modifier on the hybrids, shields are never an issue and the dmg output is much higher.

PvP however is different. Even if they protect against Tetryon, the shield stripping still works as intended. With field generators currently stacking, it might be more desired right now than other weapons (unknown). Flow Capacitor consoles and skill will boost the shield stripping as well as using the Omega set for yet more stripping.

Again, stripping will only get you so far. You still need to be able to pound the target down. Tretyron are great in a group setting if you are the only one running them, as it leaves the hull dps to another player.

The dual cannons(not heavy) should proc more do to the higher rate of fire, but would equal less dmg on crits. Most of your shield stripping procs atm, are coming from the turrets on your build.

If I built a stripper escort again, it would have dual cannons(not DHC) in the front with a a torp of choice. Two turrets in the back and a Tricobalt mine.

You would want to drop the mine as you are about to pass the target on your run. It should have a shield free hull to detonate against.
