Oh these little things bug me far more than graphics errors (although my favorite graphic error is the levitating Borg drones near the wall in the power plant on defera (best witnessed on upper level section alpha ))
Researcher rescue annoys me more for the fact you disable, not destroy the final gorn ship.
And the research team requests to beam back down to the planet, and you warp out. Leaving the ship there capable of repairing it's damage, and beaming more gorn to the planet to kill the researchers.
Well, I would rather see no exploding ships at all (except under very unusual circumstances), and have "disable" be the default for everything. That "disabled" ship is a burning wreck. It will never move under its own power again, unless it has a player (or very important NPC) as its captain.
I find the notion of Starfleet officers "killing someone for someone else" more annoying than anything grammar-related.
Indeed. The concept of needing to kill in times of war is indeed illogical.
Nevermind that Kirk did kill when the situation warranted. The extra dimensional beings in Catspaw and Apollo in Who Mourns for Adonis? come to mind off hand. They may not have been shot directly but were both killed by the actions of Kirk and crew.
