Hey is there a specific type of ship weapons that are better than other. For example Phaser tetryon Plasma and so on....
Also whatever is the best to use...is there a place to buy these weapons. When im at space dock in the shipyard i can only buy phasers i believe unless im not looking hard enough. There is also the exchange but again i got to search for weapons but how do i no what to look for???
No, there isn't "One" best weapons type out there. Now, there are bad ones, like plasma. Most end game shields come with plasma resistance so if you are planning on doing any PvP, then don't use plasma. Other then that, it is really personal preference. Pick the color you like, and the effect you like. I personal like Phasers for two reasons: 1, they are canon, and two, I like the effect. I know a guy that like polorans because he like the power drain proc, Some people like Anti-proton because of the extra crit you get from it. It is really personal preference.
You can get other weapon types at ESD. Up in the shipyard, go to the people on the opposite side of the room from the people that you get ships from. They will have good weapons. Although you have to pay dilithium for them, and they don't have AP. Deep Space K-7, the computer vender has some nice weapons to get you started as well.
If you are searching on the exchange, it is easy. just type something like this:
You can pick your weapons based on what you wish to accomplish, but keep in mind that there's only a 2.5% chance per shot so its effect will be very minimal.
In my case, I'm running an energy drain build so I use Polaron weapons for optimal draining. A science supporter might want disruptors to help its team, where an attacking escort would likely want anti-proton for as high as possible critical hits.
It really depends on what you want to do. But apart from the Plasma in PvP scenario, there is no wrong choice.
AP than Hybrid than Standard. That is without getting into the different rare bonuses you may find on a weapon.
Not true. Anti Proton weapons' effectiveness greatly scales with your base damage and your critical hit chance. On an escort, sure, they rock for dealing damage. But on cruisers and science ships, damage is lower and as a result, so is the 40% crit bonus.
And hybrids aren't better, because they sacrifice a damage modifier for the second proc effect. They're just different.
very interesting thanks guys. yea i wanna get into PvP and i take it plasma at this point isnt a good option. ill look into AP and the others. i might go to K-7 and get these weapons might be more variety there
