wow this is dumb !
so how can someone buy points? So far I can still buy cryptic points though the store as all is priced in that currency and you can pay them with paypal but this is like weird... so it means star trek online doesn't want to make any money ?
In PWE's game, you need a level 10 character to "charge" your ZEN, which I assume means to acquire the points for free by doing in-game deeds.
I bought Zen recently & I don't play any PWE games except STO. What you need to do is go to the "Charge Zen" menu dropdown & choose "Purchase Zen" at the top right of their website, & choose a payment method.
You will need to set up another account during this process, as well as a "passphrase" for your credit card, but this is the only time you will need to do this. Just remember your accounts & passwords/passphrases for future purchases.
After that, just go to "Transfer Zen" under "My Wallet" on the left side of the screen & choose the game, server & amount of Zen to convert to cryptic points. Note that Cryptic Points have always been worth more than Zen so the exchange rate is 100 Zen=80 CP, & you aren't paying any more than you used to for CP.
The process will be streamlined a little more when Cryptic Points are permanently done away with in favor of Zen, which is in testing on the Tribble build right now to show how the prices will appear to change, when in fact they are still the same. Lifetimers will still get a monthly stipend which will appear to be 25% extra, so 500 Zen instead of 400 CP, but it is the same value.
Indeed the process is kind of murky, & could be described better in the forums & FAQ on both websites. I really didn't want to give my credit card info to yet another client, but PWE has been around the block & so far they have been trustworthy.

Actually, you can just ignore the Level 10 message, and just setup the 'Profile' for your PWE account. Once that is done, you can make a small purchase, then start going through the Account/Credit Card Validation process (which can take hours - days to complete...)
