# 1 KDF Ship Idea

just came to me while thinking about new characters...

so, the KDF side has hardly any ship customization, so i thought...what if you could use any BOP piece on any tier...would be pretty cool, right? then expand that idea to raptors and cruisers, and BAM! you got nearly as many choices as the feds. of course, youd have to purchase the higher tier ships to unlock the pieces. you prolly would have to include a scaling option to each piece to make everything work correctly....but i think it would help the KDF if you were able to do this.

the other race ships would have to be unchanged, unless other classes of the same type are released.

To be honest why can't the NPC ships from the Fed Campaign be made available for free or as a bundle in the c-store for KDF players?

This would also open up more options for your idea as well. Which I quite like too.

The response to this has always been that the NPC ship models were not built to the same standard as player ships; they may look fine to us as it is, but if we were able to subject them to close scrutiny, they just wouldn't hold up.

Honestly, I'm not sure I'd mind though; I always thought I'd rather start off in a Gorn Vishap frigate, or Orion corvette, than the B'rel we used to get. Regardless of how pretty they looked close up.

I believe there was a Developer statement about this as not everything lines up properly which is why you can't whack parts of X onto Y.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, in fact I quite like it but it seems to be far beyond the scope of what they are willing to do for KDF.

well, id be willing to help come up with more things like this if i could only get a job there...lucky fools they are, able to make a living out of a game. damn them for living my dream *shakes fist*

oh, um sorry...back to ships...

also, id like to see more use out of the cloaking device...somehow. it really doesnt seem very useful once you start a fight and they live longer than was hoped. maybe a enhanced cloak console that works a bit like the brel refit, but not as powerful...maybe takes a ton of weapons and or shield power to have a constant cloak, or semi-cloak(if you are moving too fast, fire too many weapons, too close, you are temporarily exposed), and an [increased chance to miss when cloaking/decloaking]<maybe just this would satisfy me

Scaling. You mentioned it, but it would look ridiculous. A K'T'Inga head on a Vor'cha hull, with Bortas'Qu nacelles, it just wouldn't work.
