When I started my quest about a month ago to get the Mk XII MACO sets (both space and ground) before the launch of Season 7, I never would have guessed that IGE would be the one giving me the most trouble.
And yet here I am, trying to get the Mk XII PSG after having braved Armek and the boss of KAGE with no trouble at all. But IGE?
over my past 5 runs Ive either had groups that just havent been able to deal with the last room or Ive been hit with crippling lag right before the end and I dont get the loot at all.
On top of that it seems like this STF has a lower drop rate for its proto tech than the other two. Of course I cant prove it, but it feels lower... as even when I was running the other two I would occasionally see people getting those ptoto techs, but I never see it in IGE.
I can certainly understand your frustration. I have been in the same situation many times before. It seems that Infected ground is the hardest of the three ground instances for some reason. I have run all instances many many times on several characters (I now have 7 MK XII ground sets KDF side, and one Fed side.)
I have been in VERY few pugs that could get through the instance without something going wrong. Most can get through, though usually with a couple of wipes : /
I have also seen the really odd lag in that room with Rebecca. I would have no problems in the previous part of the instance, but once locked in that room...its like an evil random mechanic.
Perseverance is key. Just keep at it and eventually you will get it.
It can be frustrating, but just hang in there, and eventually you will get your drop.
And seriously....people need to learn to stay behind the group if they don't know the assimilation triggers, and not go running next to walls and doorways. I would like to see an optional in a pug more than once in a lifetime
Fyi boss room can be completed with a pug of 3 players but requires teamwork
Kill center spawn don't aggro room all 3 jump to 1st station kill borg do consoles. Then rinse and repeat till u clear all 4 stations center should be about ready to respawn kill center spawn then shield gen then kill rebecca.
best things to practice are ur jumping skills whenever u can aka cross room in night of the comet mission from the bar across tables without touching floor.
Remember plasma is not ur friend and this was done on elite several times after 2 teamates bailed
I cannot agree with you more. I have played through to the end at least a dozen times, but never been able to beat the last room on elite.
You know what is a good idea?
Said no one ever.
That is the biggest issue, cleaning out the place, and when we kill the last enemies, all the other ones respawn.
No other mission does this.
If they didn't have the enemies respawn, it would make it easier and make more sense.
P.S.: Has any staff said anything about the raging difficulty with this?
Yes, it is hard. That's why it's called (Elite). If anything, it should be made harder, to be able to justify that name. The room can be done with 3 moderately competent players. Rebecca can be soloed by a Sci captain. (I've done it many-many times).
1. Do _not_ clear the room before starting. You need to clear each platform as you go. The only exception is in the start, where you clear Left-Right-Centre before starting on the near right and going clockwise.
2. Be fast! Have two people run ahead of the 3 button pushers, and kill/soften the Borg.
3. Know the terrain! When Becca spawns, you have to find a place with some cover! (crouching on a pipe by a corner platform is good) You should NOT be near any of your teammates! There can be NO pets! As few Borg as possible should be able to target you. ONLY IF the ones that CAN target you start shooting you, you shoot back. Use a HD rifle. Ofen you'll push them out of range faster than they die, and then problem is solved anyway.
4. If anyone keeps spawning pets/security escorts etc. he'll ruin it for everyone. Same if he runs around the room aggroing drones. If left to themselves, most the respawning borg will not disturb you.
The only thing in IGE that's "elite", is nailing the optional.
I don't bother with it. Obtained the MACO kit I wanted and never went back.
IGE seems to bring out the worst in players. EVERY instance I played involed elitist 'experienced' players raging at newer players (though this was, on a few occasions, due to the new players failing to take frequency remodulators into the mission).
I actually find IGE the easier of the three. Just need a team that knows what they're doing, what places to stop at for each step to clean out the drones, and the correct strategy (LRM on entry followed up with 3 jumpers) for the boss room.
