nice map, interesting idea. could see players using some nice tactics to try and maximise their scoring.

did think it felt a bit easy. tholians may need to dish out a little more damage to be a threat, or a few extra tholians ships around the locations.

also right at the end there are two leave buttons.

one that comes up with the timer, like every other events

down the bottom is a leave nebula button that does nothing. it just says the connection timed out when you press it.

It's really, really, really easy. So easy that I think i'll get soon enough bored with this instance. I don't know why the tholians are here except as pigeon used in pigeon shooting.

Interesting map though.

One concern. The end mission popup told me i was awarded 5 fleetmarks and 13 romulan ones, but i recieved the reward five times!

I know it's supposed to reward the work of 5 players but I'm not sure I need 5 times the reward.

Simple and straightforward, yet waaaaay too easy. So easy in fact that I believe the best approach is to keep one player at each asteroid at all times to solo it and wait to restart.

Same issue with rewards as above - very little marks, yet multiplied several times.

Also, I honestly believe that these missions should reward at least some small amount of dilithium in addition to their normal mark rewards. I just think that aside from mark grind they are kind of pointless and boring in the long run. It's going to be the exact same issue I have with all the fleet missions - they are fine when done from time to time, but they reward so little marks that the grind become dull and annoying after a while, especially since they're so easy. At least 480 dilithium at the end would be appreciated, especially since EDC and Borg Salvage are going away. Heck, even 240 dilithium... Anything, but not just those silly marks and random trash loot.

Have none of you noticed that it is classed as EASY in the PVE queue? Working as intended? Higher difficulty versions would be interesting.

18 Romulan Marks from one run I did.

No, there are two reasons why your tactic is flawed.

1. The Tholians can easily deal considerable damage to your offensive capabilities, especially if one of the Orb Weavers webs you. You need somebody to bail you out.

2. Not only do you release them faster if there's two of you for the 4 beam emitters, but you also make better use of the cooldown between the bases.

This seemed like it was a trivial 'degrees of success' mission. You can't fail, you can only succeed so much.

It's not easy to see that to release a ship actually means you need to deactivate 4 beams rather than just one but otherwise their didn't seem to be any bugs and the overlay objective technology (that tells you how many points are available at each spot) is really nice.

Without knowing the reward structure it's hard to be too firm on an opinion here, but it feels like it should either build up to something, or rewards should scale exponentially.

If I were re-designing this encounter I would look at a few things:

Possibility A: Have a big tholian ship at the end that you need to fight, the more ships you save the more to help you fight. This might not work well because you'd be a dead man walking if you did poorly in the first part, so alternatively have more tholian ships at the end the more 'points' you earned, and the more ships you fight the more loot you get.

Possibility B: there are 4 bases. At any given time 3 will have a ship to rescue. You have to choose which one - but the trick is that a scimitar will be guarded by something *more* than 5x more powerful than a warbird, er bird of prey and roughly double that of a D'deridex. This presents a choice and risk for the player - spending time flying around to 1 point BoP's is easy, but you waste a lot of time in transit, but if you're good you can have a big risk and go for scimitars and d'deridexes repeatedly. It also creates tension towards the end 'is there enough time to get that 5 pointer, or do we settle for a 3?

I would have the reward scale roughly as 1.4-1.5^(points). Imagine dilithium. An 'ok' run might only net you 300 or 400. A really good run could net 3000 or 4000. But I'd have to think about that, because a well oiled group might be able to get 25 or 30 points and a weak pug 15 so that scaling may be too generous. It could just be discreet steps, but exponential growth makes for a lot of tension.

Right now the optional objectives in STF's create the wrong kind of tension, they aren't really hard so much as 'don't kill that yet' or 'who was supposed to cover that side?'.

Also, this mission seems to purely be a 'dps wins' scenario. Which I guess is OK, but you want to be looking at having a serious role for tanking and healing builds.

Played it several times nown with pugs only. The average romulan mark reward is between 11 and 18. I guess it's a decent one for such an easy mission.

I've met a scimitar to free once, the tholian dreadnought we had to fight was a joke, it was the quickest ship to destroy and the scimitar is currently the easiest to free.

I've found FaW to be quite useful here, as well as photonic shockwave torps. The webs pretty much collapse with either of them. If the team is awesome enough you might actually be able to camp the spawn points. There's only 4 or so.

The trick for shutting down ship weapons is pretty nasty, but it makes things interesting.

I've noted that the best strategy seems to be having one guy free the Romulan ship while the enemies are distracted, then help destroy the enemies.
