I keep reading all the complaints that, when it comes to ships available in the game, Klingons are lagging far behind the Feds. The latest complaint I've read being related to the new Steam Starter Pack that included the special Steamrunner Blockade Runner ship; and yet the Klingons got what?
So.
With all that in mind, I got to wondering...
Most of the ships in the game are related to, or based on, some other Ship that has either appeared in an Official Star Trek TV Series, Movie... or Book (Vesta)... With these, there have been countless variations on the Federation Ship portrayed. Some of them are new ship designs that are based on some other ship that was made famous during one particular scene... The Thunderchild Class for the Feds being an example here.
The Thunderchild Heavy Escort Refit in the Game, is a design named after a famous Akira Class ship, the USS Thunderchild, that was portrayed in Star Trek First Contact, featured during the battle sequence at the beginning of the movie when Star Fleet was battling the Borg Cube, before the Enterprise charged into the fray...
On the Klingon side we have the Somraw Class Raptor. An entire class of Klingon Raptor that is based on an actual ship, the IKS Somraw, that appeared in a Enterprise episode.
So with this in mind...
I got to wondering what OTHER ships are there out there, actual Klingon Ships that have been portrayed in Film, TV Series, or major book series... that are NOT currently in the Game; or are there any other "famous" Klingon ships portrayed in either that an entire new Class of ships cvould be named after?
Here's a few I thought of...
IKS T'Ong - Featured in the TNG episode that introduced Worf's mate, his son's mother; K'Ehleyr. How about a T'Ong Class of Ships in the Game? What could it be?
IKS Pagh - Featured in a TNG Episode, a Bird of Prey which Riker was transferred to as the first Star Fleet Officer to serve aboard a Klingon Ship! This ship was also famous for being the very first Bird of Prey to be featured on a TNG Episode. It was larger then the standard B'Rel class too... more along the lines of the K'Vort Class! How about a Pagh Class added to the Game?
IKS Koraga - Featured in DS9 Series, another K'Vort Class Bird of Prey! Perhaps a Koraga Class of ships can be added to the Game?
The K'Vort Class! Featured in the TNG and DS9 Series', an enlarged version of the B'Rel Bird of Prey, classified more as a Battle Cruiser! Heavy hitter, but less agile and slower then a Fed Galaxy Class.

Bear in mind guys... I don't want us posting ideas here about kind kinds of ships YOU want.
"I want this for TAC Carrier with this many consoles, equips these guns, has this HP ans shield spec oh and I want it to have 4 hanger bays oh and a super turn rate, etc etc etc!"
PWE doesn't need us to tell them how to design a ship.
They just need us to point them in the direction of any actual Klingon Ship Classes that actually exist, that they perhaps have not added to the Game.... or perhaps some famous Klingon Ships of the past, that could have an entire new Class named after them and with that in mind, why should that particular ship have an entire class named after it? What was special about it? Did it accomplish some great engineering feat? So could it be a new Engineering Class ship for the Klingons? What was the name of the Bird that the Duras Sisters used to destroy the Enterprise D and could that be a good name for a new TAC Class?
Let's give PWE some ideas here and point them in the right direction!
IKS Pagh - Featured in a TNG Episode, a Bird of Prey which Riker was transferred to as the first Star Fleet Officer to serve aboard a Klingon Ship! There's already a Pach Raptor; that could get confusing.
I'd like to see a D5 class, or some refit of it. A K'toch scoutship would be cool too, even though we could barely see it in the episode. And a 22nd century BoP would be fun.
I'm actually quite happy with the fleet Vorcha/Vorkang also called Tor'Kaht's performance. However I don't get why inspite of having the lower tier Vor'kang bought still requires you to have FOUR bloody ship modules to buy the Tor'Kaht... nice way to screw KDF over.... I now understand why some players can get a little cynical at what KDF is promised and what they get.
Sooo... I wudnt be surprised if the Flt Varanus or Flt Karfi are just slightly re-moddled but essentially the same ship with better specs but still costing you 4 modules to buy.
Thinking about what is, in fact, still "Uniquely Klingon", they really only have ONE type of ship that is "uniquely Klingon" in the game-as in something that the Klingons actually manage to DO better than everyone else.
Klingon Cruisers are Fat raptors, or Raptors are skinny Cruisers, take your pick (except the Bortasque, which is, to my eyes, a Klingon attempt at a semi-mobile Starfleet-style command post vessel, and the Vo'quv, which is obviously the real base-chassis for it.)
What Klingon designers and engineers build, better than everyone else, is the multipurpose special operations or "Raider" type ship.
aka the Bird of Prey, which does NOT function well in the stand-up, set-piece battle structure favoured by the Federation, Breen, Tholians, Cardassians, Dominion...what it excels at, is the assassination mission, the deep strike mission, the "I sneak behind your fixed defenses, and pull your underpants over your head before breaking your spine." missions.
Bird of Prey design and use, typifies the "Your fortress walls are no obstacle" type of tactical mission, the "Yes, you made it very hard to get in, now let me demonstrate to you how you made it even HARDER for you to escape."
For those that discount KDF's intelligence capabilities, think on thus: During the Dominion War, Federation intel had NO IDEA that the Cardies (any of them) were collaborating with the Dominion. NONE. KDF knew that people high in the Cardy government were compromised-and acted on that knowledge to the shock and horror of the blissly naive Federation. In STO canon, it was the KDF, not Starfleet or Section 31, that detected the infiltration and compromise of the Gorn Hierarchy by the Undine. this was not a fluke. A warrior who knows nothing of his enemy will be defeated, and the wind does not respect a fool.
Yeah, we don't have the best technologies, we don't have shiny, purpose-built elint vessels, but the Bird of Prey is THE special forces ship. It's atmosphere capable, stealthy, long-ranged, well armed, flexible, and effective.
And honestly, nobody else has anything that works in its mission set as well as it does, yet it works as well pulling combat-escort and strike missions as any 'superior', better armed and shielded, heavier hulled vessel out there.
all we really need, is a BoP with some minor improvements-these can be as simple as an improvement in build quality and systems efficiency. The Norgh (Fleet variant) and derivative Hoh'sus point the way here-we just need to get the yards following it.
