# 1 MACO Beam Knockback Effect

Devs, I'm hoping you can remove the Knockback Effect from the MACO Beam.

Everytime someone uses it, it antagonizes the group, because it pushes the target out of their firing range or AoE. So perhaps replace it with a more approriate Anti-Borg ability?

I agree on this, the KB shoud only be a mod on shotguns and not rifles esp since we have a passive option now that will grant a chance to grant KB on a target regardless of weapon if picked.

Psst, I was talking about the Space Set's Heavy Graviton Beam.

But yeah, the ground knockbacks should be specific to certain weapons. (Honestly, not sure why they added a knockback proc with the reputation system. It's just going to cause frustration).

I think one problem is the change of the borg set. Many used to use 3/4 borg + maco shield and use the full maco set now.
They got a "new" ability which does some dmg and fire it as often as they can.

This is not new. It seems to be funny using evasive maneuvers + tractor beam repulsor
I very like when I fire my tyken's rift, get a second gravity well and spread my warp plasma around a group of enemies...

As long as dps and 1st-place-mentality dominates STO there will be no change.

I brought this up on tribble, it either went unnoticed or got ignored.

I hope you have better luck than I did.


We've lost the Borg 3piece set, and now face massively upgraded damage vs. the borg. So effectively a double nerf to player survivability.

The only alternative are STF sets that aren't much use beyond their shields.



We did get one thing, that KB beam that annoyingly pushes stuff away is now on a 120s CD instead of 180s. So your allies can use it more frequently!

-1,000,000 ... I absolutely LOVE my Graviton Beam Knockback. I use it to slam an enemy back and keep them in my forward arc. The whole point of this skill IS THE KNOCKBACK. If you don't want to knock the enemy back, don't fire the beam.

Or don't spec into Graviton Generators - the Heavy Graviton Beam is buffed by 4 things:

Damage = Particle Generators
Knockback = Graviton Generators
Disable Duration = Subspace Decompilers
Aux Cost = Power Insulators

If you just want it to do some damage and disable systems, spec into Particle and Decompilers.

I think the HGB rocks - way better now than pre-Season 7

Funny, I recall back in F2P testing that the main purpose of the Heavy Graviton beam was the disable effect.

But if you want to knockback an opponent and your teammates yell at you for not being a team player, so be it.

yeah, now it is annoying, when everyone uses it, and spam it.

I only used it with grav well, it pretty much pushes it away, and the grav well just pulls it back to its place. however I cant have a grav well going on 24/7 so whenever someone shoots one of my targets I get annoyed as hell (especially when I lined a few spheres up so one of them blowing up would kill the rest with a nice warpcore breach, to see that particular one sphere shot out into empty space with someone who just found a new spacegun)
