# 1 Space mobs jumping locations
01-26-2013, 07:26 AM
Anyone had an issue where space mobs tend to 'jump' location?

I have set up a fairly complex map with lots of stuff appearing and disappearing and ive place some groups inside a structure. they now want to jump about 15km away after a few seconds of combat.

there are some objects in the same general area but they have are only set to appear once the mob has been defeated. im unsure if these objects are somehow forcing the ship to move location. ive never encountered it before.

anyone seen anything like this?

Are they moving to the exact center of the map? This seems to be an aspect of what I call the "0,0,0 point bug". see: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/sh...d.php?t=479121

In space it relocates units to the center. Exterior ground relocates to a point outside the map. Interior ground is less predictable. Probably in part because interior maps have a variable 0,0,0 point. In part... the behaviour isn't uniform even taking that into consideration.

I'll have to keep an eye on it, but that sounds correct.

it only seemed to work in testing. i did a live play through and no problems. ill have to do more testing to be sure.

I've been having that problem recently. They don't move to the center on mine, so much as they shift all the way to the other side of the map.

Just to make sure, I moved everything over from the right side of the map to the left side, and they still shifted all the way across the map. It looks like they despawn, but in fact they move and then begin to fly back to their starting point.

But there is a silver lining. After hours of trying to fix this, I published it as a test run, and when I played it in live, none of the ships shifted over. It seems to be just a problem with the editor.

What coordinates are they shifting to on yours? Also, what is the base map?

The base map I'm using is NGC-4447 Space. The spawn starts at 76, 15 but shifts to around -115, 0 but that's just an estimate. I originally created a custom space map, but the same exact thing happened.
