Hi STO community,

I'm still learning lots about PvP, I do have some previous PvP experience, and as well as attending the boot camp. I generally do average in PvP, and in most 1 vs 1 matches with friends/fleetmates I've come out victorious.

That is except against one player. I believe I was up against a Vesta/Sci capt, and he used runabouts as his pets. Barely could scratch his hull, the sci power debuffs he threw were quite overwhelming, and he added more insult to injury by using chroniton torps to debuff my speed and turn rate, as well as target subsystem attacks. **sigh**

I have APO to counter the tractor beams/holds, and I always run my engines at 50, with my capt skills and gear is currently boosted to 66.

The only ship I use to fill the escort role is my Jem'Hadar Attack Ship. I just want to see what constructive feedback I can get, as I do want to improve as a PvP'er. So my question is, was there no possible way to win?

as much as i hate to admit it, escorts should have a strong weakness to sci powers. i say this, wile HATING VM more then any other ability right now. escorts are so hardened against conventional damage and are so quick, hard to hit, and nearly impossible to pin down, that they need a weakness of some kind.

sci ships can be spiked in half though, you will have fleeting moments to strike, make it count. of course if your on a team, your going to be in much better shape. a good sci/sci can be very close to unbeatable for a normal escort

1v1's that aren't escort vs. escort are useless. Too easy to tank a single escort that doesn't have the element of surprise.

sci ships have a very high shield modifier (1.40-1.45 in most of the cases), with a decent build in a 1vs1 is almost imposible that an escort can kill them, unless the sci player is doing something wrong

1vs1 PvP have little to non sense, is team oriented.

Hey guys, I was the Sci/Sci guy that Kron fought against.

And I have to agree with the other posters, PVP is a team based game. And 1v1's against anything other than escorts aren't that great, as tanking 1 Escort is pretty damn easy.

Against an entire team, my build is hard pressed, as most of it's powers save for Chroniton Spreads are single target. Unless I have backup, I will die. Quickly.

Honestly, no matter what I fly, I always fear the Sci/?

Because A good Science Captain will always have the advantage of Sub Nucelonic Beam.. And I bow before it's god like powers to nerf me always at the worst possible times...

My fleet mate is a sci officer that flies in escorts and science ships.

It's pretty one sided. His damn subnuke is what gives me the most trouble.

Group PvP is a bit different. He's not nearly as annoying, probably because of focused fire or there being so much going on he has to keep switching targets.

I have this same problem with a fleetmate who is sci captain and uses a vesta, he uses the adapted omega shield and told me his shield cap is something like 21k, not to mention the target subsystems, the cool sci buffs he uses, plus he runs the aux phaser cannons which are quite strong if your aux is high (which his is) then that purple bubble thing only vesta can use that keeps you at a distance, plus he too uses the runabouts and they are annoying as hell, i use a jem bug as well and have not figured out how to beat his setup yet as everything he does keeps me tractored or my power levels drop to 0 or flux constantly, i think those runabouts use chroniton weps plus have tractors themselves, then he uses tractors as well as graviton pulse console, and hes using viral 3 i believe and can get it to last quite long,,,ive used eng batts, evasive,,and APO but its never enough to get out of all the slow downs and holds.

hes stomping me in 2 on 2 as well,,,cause him and his teamate only focus on me and just keep me held still with low power as he knows i have the highest DPS in my fleet and it scares him lol.

When playing teams i can manage to kill him a couuple times but as one poster said its because so much is going on he cant constantly focus on me and i can do an escorts job and sneak in there and DPS him to death.
