Cryptic CEO Jack Emmert recently stated that STO is "much bigger than City of Heroes ever was at its peak!"

Apparently the game is doing pretty well

Coming from a guy who claimed that (if memory served) something wasn't in a game on its launch, it does not make sense to introduce it, cause people won't use it anyways, I guess thats good.
My name may say "PWE member", but I will never be.
-NEVER Forget the Screwups and ignorance made towards the people who supported the game through 2011
Don't look silly, don't call it "Zen-Store" - Don't waste devs time, Post proper bug-reports

1) If anyone actually believes a word coming out of that guy's mouth, I have a bridge to sell them.

2) Redirecting to a blog posting instead of the actual interview isn't going to win you any fans.

Jack's man enough to admit when he's wrong:

Believe me, I was a subscription die-hard who had choice words for F2P, but the methodology behind quality free gaming design totally converted me.

Why would that come as a surprise to him? Star Trek's IP has an enormous fan base compared to the CoH IP. This is like being surprised the sky is blue.

It's good to hear the game is doing well though.

I think you are forgetting the fact that COH was the first major superhero MMORPG. So regardless of the specific IP it was based on, it attracted all types superhero fans(DC, Marvel, etc). While the Trek IP has a large fanbase, I wouldnt say its larger than all the fanbases attracted by the first superhero MMO.

So? I would bet Trek has a larger fanbase internationally than US comic superheros do. CoH wasn't based on anything from Marvel or DC, so you didn't see any of the signature characters like Batman and Superman in it. Were that true, CoH would've had subs counted in the millions. It didn't have anything even close to that number.
