WOW is all I can say. Had my first go at a war zone today and long story short I ended up going toe to toe with a Hegh'ta and I thought, one escort against my Sovvie, not a problem. This guy merced me within a minute and I was left jaw dropped.

It wasn't like he used anything crazy, I was extra power to my tetryon beams (I run them to take down shields and then torpedo the crap out of people...it seems to work very well in PVE) along with my heavy Antiproton turret and scorpion fighters I thought I'd be fine. I didn't so much as make a single dent in his shields, not once did they go down from blue.

What blew me away though was he didn't seem to have any set style. All his cannons were multi coloured, he had blue, yellow, red, green. So I diverted my power to shields and thought cruisers are tanks, I can outlast a escort equal to rank considering I have my shield buffs.

Boy was I wrong, shield buffs did nothing and he capped me within seconds.

Then I though I'd try again seems there were to other sovvies with me. By this time there was a second Hegh'ta. I thought why not, three Assault Cruisers and a tonne of borg. These two klingon ships just destroyed all three of us, even as we fired on them and the borg fired on both of us they won.

Point of this story, why it god's name are Klingon ships so OP'd. From my brief forays into this forum I know there's quite a bit of animosity between Klingon lovers and Fed lovers but as someone who's never been involved in that.

My first experience is that these playable klingon ships are ridiculous. I have fought off two Negh'var class ships, three B'rel's and two raptors in PVE, so I know my ship can take a beating.

I just can't fathom how they took me down so quick, and I have the best shields I can find for my level. (Admiral upper half).

Is it just that I'm a terrible player or what because I just felt like a pinata to this little ship that in canon star trek, would not even put a dent on a Sovereign class starship.

Your taking a PvE build into PvP that your prob not the game.

So there's actual gear you should take into PVP?

Because even if my build wasn't up to scratch for a PVP battle, I was using Uncommon - Rare mark XII weapons and shield array. Which should at least the ship I have, which is considered the tank class should at least be able to hold it's ground for more than half a minute.

its more then just gear the build of your char. Things like driver coil are 100% pointless in pvp. Odds they had adv fleet weapons and MKII rep gear. Then are some boffs that add to powers as well. Like one of the rom boffs add more dmg after coming out a cloak.

Like i said its your build not the game.

Here's my set up. Granted it's a pure PVE build and I have no experience with PVP, except for this now so don't judge my noobness.

For -
1 -Uncommon Dual tetryon Beam bank Mark XI - 20% chance crit/severity
2 -Uncommon tetryon Beam array Mark XI - 20% chance crit/severity
3- Uncommon tetryon Beam array Mark XI - 20% chance crit/severity
4- Uncommon Quantum Torpedo Launcher mark X - 20% chance crit/severity

Deflector - Uncommon Positron deflector array Mark VIII - +12.5 shield emitters, starship structural integrity, starship shield systems & +6.2 starship power insulators

Shield - Rare Covariant Shield Array - 7,082 cap, 122.8 regen every 7 seconds, -20% damage to shields.

Aft -
1 -Uncommon tetryon Beam array Mark XI - 20% chance crit/severity
2 -Transphaic Torpedo mark X
3 -Uncommon Photon torpedo Mark VIII
4- Uncommon tetryon Beam array Mark XI - 20% chance crit/severity

Devices - Heavy Anti Proton Turret, Scorpion fighters, sweapon and engine batteriers

Engineering- Diburnium Hull plating mark X, Uncommon RC Accelerator mark VII, x2 Monotanium alloy

Science - Both consoles uncommon $ buffed my shields.

Tactical - Uncommon zero point quantum chamber, uncommon tetryon pule generator, uncommon directed energy manifold.

You also have to take in consideration that players use alpha strikes that NPCs don't. Those KDF ships cloak and then aply weapon buffs, decloak (which automatically adds a buff) and then open fires. This is very deadly.

You need a real good built to exist in PVP. Mk X or Mk XI Weapons are not enought. Most of them run highly pimped ships.

First off, I am hardly am armchair expert on ship builds. I am essentially a raptor pilot. Although I've flown carriers, cruisers, BOPs, etc, I prefer raptors. I have mostly flown a Fleet Qin/Mirror Qin Heavy Raptor.

I don't know exactly what your ship can fit, but as far as I know, I've learned that having different types of weapons on your ship is generally not a great idea for maximizing your DPS and having an efficient weapon setup. When you get new ships they come with stuff like beam banks, a cannon, maybe a dual cannon, and people think that's normal and okay. What you actually want to do is stuff it full of the weapon type you're going for. Some people will throw beams onto their ship + a torpedo launcher or two (depending on what ship they're flying).

For an escort/destroyer/Raptor like a Qin, generally you want 3 DHC (dual heavy cannon) up front + either a torp launcher or a fourth DHC, 3 turrets in back (or 2 turrets + 1 torp launcher if there's no torp launcher up front). The setup varies depending on who is piloting, and some people like having a torp in back so they keep their fore weapons all DHC and heavy firepower. Personally I prefer 3DHC 1torp 3 turrets.

Anyways I hope what I said makes sense, because looking at your fit, no offense, but you have a bad fit. Some of your stuff is mk X, some of it is rare, some uncommon, and some is even MK VII. You honestly shouldn't need to wonder why 3 of you guys lost to 2 KDF. Most likely they had proper fits, better equipment (quite probably mk XII very rare), and proper boff layouts. You're not a terrible person, but your fit is absolutely terrible (again, no offense, I'm trying to help you out and I'm not attacking you personally).

You have a beam array and beam banks. You've already limited your DPS by not keeping 3x of the same higher DPS beams. I'm not sure about your aft: since I keep turrets on my aft weapons so they actually fire whenever I use my weapons (as opposed to other weapons that I'd have to turn my back on someone to use, which I don't like to base my strategy on because I don't think that's a great idea, although builds that have a torp launcher on back aren't bad), you have 2 different kinds of torpedoes on back, making 3 different torpedo types. For your tac consoles, you have a worthless beam console. Instead of using a Tachyon weapon console, you used a low % beam. You have a quantum torpedo console that won't affect the 2 other torpedo types you chose to fit. Your tactical console choices obviously severely limit your DPS, not to mention the actual weapon choices ^

Someone already pointed out that Tetryon isn't recommended for PVP. Take a look at weapon types that were mentioned: Antiproton, Disruptor, and even Polaron.

TL;DR - you lost because your fit is terrible

Dump the DEM for another Tet-pulse gennie, and same for the Zero Point chamber. Next, you're a CRUISER, you don't have much for Tac seating, and Beams drain your power FAST, so swap the beams for something USEFUL, say, 2 Single cannon, a Dual Beam bank, and another single cannon up front, 4 turrets rear. For your Tac seating, find a BOFF with Cannon Rapid Fire and Tactical Team.

Next, trade out that MkVIII deflector for something USEFUL. You want to boost your SI and Shields esp., but also look at engines that produce extra (aux) or boost your turn-rate.

Of course, the SUPERIOR choice, is to roll a Klink and learn the fine art of dancing a Bird of Prey. BoP's have the lowest hull and worst shields of any ship in the game (some of them have less hull than a Runabout!!), learn how to fly one, and you'll find it's easier to BEAT one in your Fedtoon.
