# 1 Slow DL rate.
01-11-2010, 06:21 PM
Downloaded Star Trek Downloader ST.0.20100108a.0. When I run the program and it starts downloading I noticed that it's downloading at a very low rate. It bounces between 40 and 80kbs. I had 2 friends of mine try to download it thinking it was just my pc or net. They get the same slow download speeds (all of us use Cox internet). I then tried to download a large patch file for a different mmo and it was downloading between 400-600kbs.

Any ideas on why I'm seeing suck slow DL rates with this game?

Yeah, there are a lot of people downloading the client at the moment. Even if you open ports, you'll still see slow download speeds.

The torrent cloud is a bit heavily loaded right now. As more people get further with the download, it should speed up. Just one of those joys of bittorrent.

I went through FilePlanet on the downloads page and got the international download link. Getting 1,000KB/sec.

Thanks for the info on fileplanet. Fileplanet dl is going to take 2 hours compared to 15 hours from the other one I was using.

I'm using UTorrent to DL, averaging about 100kbs-at times it gets down to around 30. gonna take all night-but that's what torrents are good for-dl and forget it! Hopefully by tomorrow I can at least install before everyone trys to log in and breaks the internets

My Brother and i both have beta keys, and both downloaded the startrekonilne downloader from this siite, my download speed bounced constantly in a range between 122kb/s up to 600kb/s, though am capable of downloading files at 2.8Mb/s, not sure how long mine took, i was out most of the day at the mall picking up our beta keys and stuff, my brother has been trying to download for about 3 or 4 days on and off and can't get a download speed from the downloader any faster than 7kb/s, he has DSL, and Linksys WRT54G router and is connected via a cat5e ethernet cable, could use some hints on speeding him up so he can play by at latest tomorrow morning.

THANKS,
