This is making the rounds in the industry again, although it's a couple of years old so I'm sure PWE is aware, but it couldn't hurt to bring it up again:

Figured you guys would enjoy a nice discussion of applying the lessons to STO, and maybe the devs will get something from your discussion as well.

i wouldn't worry. Prior to going F2P Dan Stahl mentioned that basically what they would be selling is cosmetic changes. Never any advantages. Ever.

This right here.
King of Lions rawr! Protect the wildlife of the world. [CatPhone] MurrZhan@Okamikorp: I started to think about it. But I think is right. Ferasans would speak a form of Swahili. Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalm 37:4.

Nothing that's purchasable with RMT in this game is superior to what's free, is that what you're saying?

I haven't seen the system as it's setup so far as being P2W, but then again, there doesn't exactly seem to be much to win if you choose to pay.

My only concern would be that the new shiny I bought last week is being surpassed by a new shiny coming out next week. Basically, I don't want to see another new escort for 3-6 months; if it's an issue of releasing ships which sell well, then find ways to make non-escorts attractive sales.

If the interpretation of "P2W" is that the same ship types will be updated and re-released every month under the premise that I'll buy a new one every month just to keep up, then there is a breakdown in the system.

I'm sure there's a whole line of non-C-store 5 fore weapon escorts coming out next week. /sarcasm

^^^ This. The Z-Store doesn't sell any power. And all those lockboxes are just for off-faction fluff items. As DStahl promised.

So STO is fine.

I do not think you can actually say that because technically a "ship" is an "item" in this game, they all have base stats and the ones that you get from the Z-Store/Fleet Starbase/Lockboxes are a lot more powerful then the normal ships.

Interestingly enough...if as a player you don't just punch your monitor in anger...if you wait to get to the end the message is:

"It's perfectly ok to go full-on Pay to Win, the amount of people who will actually quit is nothing compared to the financial rewards"

The "money" page: http://image.slidesharecdn.com/benco...jpg?1311816277

Just why did you post this, Ghost? You know it's going to start a storm, you have to.
