"Login failed for unknown reason" error
Missing additional character slot for current/ lapsed Gold Members
this has worked for me and two others so far who had the "error decompressing data"
1 delete your installation
2 reinstall startrek from the setup files you just spent 25 hours downloading
(i did not redownload the install files but the other two guys did)
3 sign in and let the patching do its thing
for me the patch size was 177mb that time around, and the other guys downloaded what they said was 100mb
4 restart game and it actually loads all the way.
5 (this step may not apply to you at this time) wait for the server to get back up
i will post this in every thread about this problem that i can find.

1. start and go to options and check force verify files...
2. look at log file... time stamp.... what file was reading... then it fail read...
3. look at other log file at same time and read what file it is wrong ... just delete that one hogg file... for me it was 2 files... bins3 and texture2
