Currently these abilities have one potent flaw: They still enable the target to lock on to non-player/npc entities like mines, fighters and other destroyable objects and structures. Viral matrix is woefully underperforming for its tier ability.
Jam sensors should prevent the target from locking anything or anyone. Not just the player.
Scramble sensors should only allow the target to lock on to ships, structures and weapons from his own side.
Viral Matrix should have more effects.
Currently we see ships that are under jam and scramble be able to fire an AOE attack and it targets your mines, fighters, heavy torpedoes and structures. It does not target your ship but it still targets stuff from your side.
Here's what I would like to see these sensor attacks changed to:
Reduces perception for 5 seconds after the jam clears @ they can lock on targets again (@ III it should reduce it to 4km range)
Prevents target lock (anything)
Decreases defense rating (how can they defend vs something they cant see?)
ONLY DAMAGE FROM THE JAM SOURCE COUNTS TOWARDS REMOVAL OF JAM.
Can only lock on to stuff from their own side & shoot it.
ONLY DAMAGE FROM THE SCRAMBLE SENSOR SOURCE COUNTS TOWARDS REMOVAL OF THE SCRAMBLE.
Forces heavy torpedoes and mines and fighters to either hit their own side or self-destruct.
Random power loss of subsystems (-15 power)
Chance to disable subsystem (as currently does)
Chance to reset timers (like a boarding party attack)
Chance to confuse (scramble sensor target-friendlies effect)
Chance to prevent locks (jam sensor lock-off effect)
Each of the above items can be cured by separate abilities not just engineering team. Disable subsystems is countered by emg power to said subsystem. sensor attack types are cleansed by science team.
All of these 'chances' remain low (10%) regardless of tier. However, the higher the tier the more chances to proc for 10% each item gets. @ III it should be 5 chances to proc (~50% chance it will happen in layman's terms)
