We are investigating a bug where some Gold Members may not have received their additional character slot -- details here (Will be fixed ASAP!).
UPDATE! We are also investigating reports of slow patching and are working on a resolution. For a better patch experience, please restart your launcher. It will pick up where it left off and should be faster to complete.
If you have purchased a Legacy or Starter Pack, please see this thread for instructions on how to claim your items in-game.

Since Open Beta started, anytime I do a random Exploration mission that requires me to beam down to a planet, the game crashes. Something about "what was written on the hard disk was not what was expected" or something to that effect.
Anytime the game crashes, it automatically verifies my files the next time I start up the launcher. However, whenever it finishes verifying the files, it says "Error 14: The connection to the server was lost."
I'll assume this means that whatever it needed to do next failed, and didn't possibly correct any corrupt files in my install. Is there a way to fix this? I can't do Exploration missions until this gets fixed.
