I'm trying engineer for my first Toon. Almost everyone seems to be going with Tactical Science is also quite rare.

I have a science and a tactical.

I think.

Haven't been in game long enough to see the differences.

I personally Love the Engineer.. Use a Escort on top of that. Easer to manage my shields and they have some nifty stuff for ground combat too.

I primarily went Science/Science with beta, and I loved the Science ship but was otherwise meh with the Science traits and skill path. Just figured I'd run with it. Then I tried an Engineer captain with a Science vessel and found my niche. I mostly solo, and the Engineer is to Star Trek what the Hunter is to WoW.

I went Science in closed beta. Engineer in open beta. Now I am trying tactical.

So far tactical seems the most limited but I am barely level 6 so I dont really know yet.

You don't really start to see differences in classes, until you at least get to tier 2 ships

I'm not even remotely interested in anything but the engineer captain.

Space survivability and ground turrets FTW!

I picked tactical because I thought it would be best for soloing, but the more I hear about Engineers, the more I think I want to try it. That'll be a use for my Joined Trill I guess.
