# 1 Difficulty ramp up at 11+
02-01-2010, 07:06 PM
Like the title says. I know it's been said a million plus one times.
I know the Miranda people were complaining about difficulty, and I'm fine with it being easy then, but PLEASE cryptic. Difficulty across the board on space but especially on ground needs to be increased when you get into your new ship.

It's making the game....not as fun as it could be.

I think it is fine. Not that it is hard by a long shot, but I personally do not see the need for "Difficulty across the board".

When escorts can go through any pve mission without any worry of shields ever dropping, it's a problem.

Difficulty could really use a little ramp-up, especially in regards to the ground combat. All that really seems to be required to be successful at ground combat is running headlong into your opposition and button-mashing. You could literally roll your face across the keyboard and take out an entire group of enemies.
It does not to be extremely difficult but you should not be able to face-roll your way to victory...

You should actually need to use your shield or hp items in ground.. not sell them for extra cash and have everybody keep a tribble on them.

I like my tribble... at first i had a poopy brown one but then after a while i got more, they are horny little r tards. Anyway now ive got a pure whiteish cream color one and he heals me after battles.

Also, Since the action on the ground isnt as free as halo or others you cant ask for more damage... im barely getting through as is and my guys all have level apropriate stuff.

It takes on average about 10 shots to kill something. unless i sniper it first and then mabye 5 to finish it off.. keep in mind tho , im just turned lvl 11 and got my cruiser. My team is geared for the starter ship.
all mkII equip.

Now that i have my cruiser ill be on the hunt for better gear for my crew. But the missions are not totally easy. Ive had to respawn several times and would rather it not get any more difficult.

You can replicate hyposprays, shields, and food items on your ship in space.. Making them pretty easy and cheap to get. Just click the Replicator button on your inventory.

At least Tribbles can not be used in combat any more. It was silly to shoot someone over and over in PvP while they pet a Tribble and watch them go up to full health. Even more silly was when your BOs would use them in combat.. They would keep petting the Tribble while getting shot and never end up shooting back.. Just petting over and over.

The most frustrating part of this whole difficulty thing is that they had it right in CB and early OB. It was a fun game back then. They just sucked the fun out of it.

On another note from another post. It was said that the Dev's are discussing a difficulty slider for the game at some point.

It was perfect back then.

Unfortunately, some people complained about being challenged or having to make an effort.

Cryptic has to tow a fine line between making it difficult for the overly hardcore while keeping it easy enough for the guy who wants to throw a couple of hours in after work.

Obviously, they can't make everybody happy.
