I've read about a few complaints in how space battle takes place.. yet i havent found any videos online yet looking from the point of view (exact screen layout) you have when in a space battle. Could someone clarify this for me??

and also when you intially buy the game do you get any amount of play time free?? or do you have to start a monthly/quarterly/bianually membership immediately??

First question, some people don't like the fact that it's not true "space" 3d, you are limited in your maouverability and where you can go, you can't fly upside-down for example, also 1-11 is rediculously easy, you hardly even need to rotate your shields. People also 1-11 only get to experience the Miranda, which is slow as hell and is about as manouverable as a tank. Klingon BoP and escorts are far more nippy. This beign said, i can't recall seeing many ST battles where ships do anything but fly straight and jink a bit, much like it is in the game.

Some people get annoyed at certain weapons firing arcs, i don't know why, they just do. Generally the wider the firing arc, the less DPS it does, so i see no issue with that one.

Second question, yep, free first month with retail purchase.

I think people dislike the Miranda because it's a n00b ship.

The turning is better than either the T2 science or T2 cruiser. Only the T2 escorts have a faster turn than the miranda.

The main problem with the Miranda is not its speed or maneuvering, but its limited number of BOs and consoles -- this limits what you can do with it. The T2 ships are more brick-like (other than escort), but the extra abilities from BOs and upgrades from consoles more than makes up for that, as does the better survivability.

No-one likes being a n00b, so whatever the n00b ship is will be hated.

Yes you get 30 days game time free. But I can't use it because the key activation requires a payment method. Such as a prepaid time card which no store here had any at launch.
