# 1 Hybrid + No Console vs Phaser
06-06-2013, 06:59 AM
Im looking to outfit my defiant with full loadout of weapons but I have a question that seems to go unnoticed in other threads.

I was originally going to get the Romulan Plasma / disruptor DHC + turrets along with the KCB + Plasma Torp Launcher but is there any point going for this over the fleet Phaser / quantum torp setup if I am not using the embassy consoles ?

Are you doing PvP?

If not, then you can go without the Embassy consoles (though, they really do help with improving your plasma damage and DOT). They are now the only consoles that will boost both plasma torpedo DOT and energy weapon damage and DOT.

If you are planning on PvP, expect your opponent to be using MACO, KHG, Omega, or Elite Shields, which can reduce your overall damage by 20% (except for DOT).

Strictly PVE only, unless those consoles can go in the tac slots im afraid I wont be able to use them.

I have the Tach Converter, Zero Point Module, Assimilated Module and I cant remember the others lol.

It's fine to not have them if you're just doing PVE stuff.

Indeed, was just wondering if there was any reason to go for them rather than the Advanced Fleet Phaser DHC + Turrets. Is there much of a difference in damage output between the 2, if not the phasers are more visually appealing.

I use phasers on my Tactical officer. And I use an Embassy console for the extra proc.

My build is for PvP though.

I do use an all plasma build for my Science officer, but I use 3 of the Embassy consoles.

Honestly, for PvE, I don't think either energy type is going to have an advantage over the other. But, if you have the Romulan console/weapon set, you may as well stick with plasma. I hear the 3-set beam is pretty powerful.

Beam would look out of place on a defiant though hehehe, I only have the Zero Point console atm I dont have the torp launcher.

If you're just using the 2-piece set, that does give you a bump to your plasma damage.

But, you should really consider the 3-piece set. That beam is pretty powerful with 100% plasma DOT, I believe.

On my Sci, I'm using mostly the Romulan plasma beam arrays and running 3x Embassy plasma DOT consoles on my Fleet Advanced Escort. My cutting beam has three plasma DOT procs on them, and when one triggers, they all trigger. I don't have the Romulan experimental beam array yet, but I did slap on the Romulan hyper-plasma torpedo on the aft.

If I went with DHCs, I'm sure it would technically do more damage than my Tact/phaser build in PvE.

Also, I don't find Advanced or Elite Fleet phasers to be of any use. I run Phaser [crtd]x3.
