Is there any "trick" to making this work? I've been trying it off and on since it came out, and I've never been able to do anything but warp in/warp out.

Its been broken, except for brief periods, since it came out. Basically, if its in progress and beaten the Alert doesn't end immediately but lingers. Anyone else entering gets ejected. I've seen posts about it with people stating that if people are trying to get in as it ends it causes an error and it fails to reset. Pity because it is a fun fight.

It s broken since the day it was introduced. Cryptic is ignoring it now completely because i don't think even they know how to fix it.

I don't know if it's possible, but the alert should end after 5 minutes tops.
That would make it difficult to get there if you are somewhere in Orellius or that Undine sector at the time, but grinding up the ROM rep to T1 shouldn't be that bothersome.

No matter if the instance is still running or not the door should close.

Also the same is true for all Red Alerts in space, it's just the Borg ones are not nearly as highly used anymore.

Sirius sector is still a good example of this, though since so many people are in that instance.

The Tholian Red Alert has always been a broken action, due to the fact that only a single map instance gets generated. The first five people to hit the Red Alert button get in, and the rest find a dead map that auto-ejects them. The button continues to linger on, though I have not been able to tell as yet if the button disappears correctly when the last of those original five players leaves the map or if it lingers on like the Borg Red Alerts' buttons do.

This defect is distinctly different than the Borg Red Alerts defect. Borg Red Alerts allow multiple maps to get generated, as well as allowing more than five players onto each map. The defect related to the Borg Red Alerts is that once the event is over, the maps and the red alert button lingers on past the event, providing a similar experience to the Tholian Red Alert bug.

Please fix?

I like the Tholian Red Alert, but like the STF accolade costume bug, it's one of those S7 bugs that lingers ignored or pushed aside for "more important things".

YUP! So...I guess if you try to enter a system thats on a RedAlert, when you enter the system right be4 it ends or right when it ends it will become bugged for you.

I no its happened to me, and after I asked around about it, the answers i got was the same answer i said above.

And as always and hopefully Cryptic no about and are going to and are working on the problem. Because I think the RedAlert channel is new and i joined and few days ago, and i like being part of the channel. Its a shame there a bug associated with it
