Hello!

I was wondering if Cryptic had any intention of going back and revisiting some of the older C-store ships? Some of them are in serious need of buffs/balancing to be at all competitive with the newer crop of ships released.

I'm particularly thinking about the Galaxy-X and the Atrox carrier.

The Galaxy-X could use some love. It's such a beautiful, iconic-looking ship and it has such sentimentality to it, but it simply just feels lackluster compared to the newest crop of ships. It doesn't have the durability or DPS to be at all competitive, yet it still costs the same as the newest tier of ships. A fleet version, or a lowering of the spinal lance CD would be amazing. Anything to make this fantastic ship something I should feel like I should use, rather than something I wasted $25 dollars on.

The Atrox could use a Caitian frigate to launch, as well. Or something akin to the Vo'Quv's Birds-of-Prey, or the Jem'Hadar's attack ships, ect.

I'm sure some of the older zen ships could use some love, as well. The fleet versions are a nice stopgap, but some of the newest zen ships are just unquestionably more powerful than those that still have the same cost.

The Atrox carrier could use some love. , it simply feels lackluster compared to the newest bunch of ships. It doesn't have the durability or DPS to be at all competitive, yet it still costs the same as the newest tier of ships. A fleet version, or a Caitian frigate would be amazing,or even make use of the large central hanger bay. Anything to make this fantastic ship something I should feel like I should use, rather than something I wasted ?20 pound on.

I'm asking myself the same question.
2000 ZEN are still 2000 ZEN, those ships have fallen in value, since newer ships perform much better IMO.

Why would Cryptic/PWE update a ship you've already paid for when they can create newer, better ones for you to spend more money on?
Dear Devs: I enjoyed the Legacy of Romulus expansion much more than the Delta Rising expansion. For specific reasons why and suggestions for future improvements to STO, please look here.

Because if they don't people will start thinking they got ripped off, and will never ever again spend money on any ship again?

Newer ships will still be more powerful and more awesome for people not caring about what ship they are actually use, as long as it is the strongest with the newest gimmick.

But not everyone thinks like this.
Believe it or not, there are some people actually liking other ships, if Cryptic won't rework those ships they'll lose more and more customers.

You weren't ripped off tho, you purchased the ship as is.. and at current value...

Ripped off would be those who purchased the T5 Excelsior while it still bundled with the T3 version. The T3 version was made a separate purchase later. Those who purchased it as a bundle lost the ship, you still have your Atrox and Galaxy-X.
I'll stop kicking that horse when the bugs fixed. Until then as a paying consumer, I will voice my opinion.

Because they still sell those ships? And making them desirable again can make them desirable to new players?

How exactly were you ripped off?

I've bought most all the store ships and don't feel I've been ripped off. I got what I paid for at the time. Just an example, the new car I bought last year is more fuel efficient and overall better technology than the car I had bought 15 years ago. The dealership isn't going to take my old car back to make improvements to it. They're wanting to sell the newer, better versions. Same goes for C-Store ships.

They're still selling them, so they're desirable to customers. There's no need to improve them since they're still selling as is.

I didn't say i where ripped off. Read again, please.

The problem is like senatorvreenak already said, they still sell those ships, but they aren't worth the money anymore.
Those ships aren't some gagets you buy use and throw away. They belong to STO and in a sense they are part of an ongoing service, which is STO.

Try to look at it from this perspective, other companies update their products from time to time to keep them "useful", like microsoft updating Windows to improve or fill some holes and so on.

Ships in STO are not to be considered like real Cars for example, because the nature of streets don't magically change with the introduction of a new car. And even there, some producers recall them if they have a serious design or security fault and fix it for free. (at least in europe)

As a company, Cryptics desire should be to keep people playing and first and foremost buying stuff from them. But if the power creep makes every new ship obsolete for the foreseeable future, people will think twice before buying a new ship again.

Btw, it is just courteous to keep things up to date and in no way make people feel being overreached, if a company wants to keep its customers. (at least where i come from)
