The character in question is Engineer.

I have a Galaxy Retro & Galaxy X available to me but after reading some of the posts on the forums they don't seem to be the best pick, although I must admit I do like to fly them every once and a while.

Those cannot turn, so they really are not of much use unless you have the Subspace Jumper console (Tholian Lock Box, but also on the Exchange).

For Engineering, my first suggestion would be the Fleet Excelsior. But then a fleetmate is using the Fleet Ambassador, and he can tank extremely well in that thing. I have to admit that I myself was very unsupportive of the Ambassador's abilities, but it has earned my trust and respect.

As for my own Engineer, I went the way of the Carrier. So, I chose the Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier, turned it into a full Cannon load (Fleet Plasma ), and got the Elite Scorpion Fighters. Come to find out, it can solo tank a Cube very well. Now yes, killing the cube takes a bit more time, but it does not matter because I can survive well enough to never necessitate retreat. So far, the one and only thing to succeed in killing it was Donatra's phantom Thalaron blast (the one that fires the instant she decloaks, then the normal blast starts charging)

In the end, Engineers are not meant to tear through enemy ranks. That is the job of Tacticals. Engineers are mainly for support, to keep the team alive. Or more importantly, they keep the Tacticals alive (). Having an Engineer that can do this while still being quite respectable with damage output is very much appreciated, but your primary job is still to keep your team mates alive.

I completed a 2-man CSE, ISE, and KASE, Optionals included. And I soloed Winter Invasion.

Thanks alot for your input!

As I said before my Vesta at the moment is averaging around the 3000DPS mark. Which is decent enough. If I can get a full blown cruiser doing that while being able to fulfil the engineer role I would be happy.

I guess my only option is to play around. Adding an RCS or 2 onto a galaxy may resolve its turn problems, or it may not.

I'll see what works best

You could certainly put that toon in a Defiant Retro, or another escort (I've been extremely pleased with my Eng corvette http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skil...=Sawlak02_2511 ). Mirror Patrol is always a good, cheap option as well, and then there are the Khyzon and Charal, which are probably the best general purpose escorts available, at least for PvE. Whichever you chose (apart from the A2B corvette build), you'd want two copies of EPtS, HE1, and TSS2, two copies of Cannon Scatter Volley, two copies of Tac Team 1 (or one with the doffs to reduce its cooldown), and some attack patterns (either two copies of Beta or 1 Beta and 2 Omega), and your fore weaponry should be DHCs with possibly 1 quantum (or Rep) torp, while aft you'd want turrets and the Kinetic Cutting Beam. Disruptor, Romulan Plasma, or Antiproton weaponry would probably be your best options for damage type.

I bought it on the C-Store (when it was the C-Store) a long time ago just because i'm a DS9 freak and figured it would be good to have for a tactical one day. After comments saying the vesta may not be the best ship for DPS and overall ass kicking would the Defiant be a better choice.

I realise I would need to rework my entire build again but now I know whats going on it should be less of a foul up

Comments/Suggestions?
You would probably double your DPS easily with fleet advanced DHC's and turrets/kcb in aft. but you will lose a considerable amount of surviveability. Hit and run tactics is the game, hit while you can but be ready to run and heal. I suggest fleet nuetroniums with +turn, assimilated module, and zero point for sci and engi consoles. tac console all the ones that boost whatever energy type you use.

I would do something like this http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=test_4343 Just the ship page.. nutroniums, fleet with +turn and fleet emiter with -th. Ensign tac is a wasted slot really so i put torp spread there so you can swap a DHC for a torp.

*Edit,
On the above build I went with advanced weapons just to show to use the tac console that matches the enrgy type and because elite only comes in phaser or disruptor for klinks. If you do Phaser then get the elite phasers.
