I think that makes them cannon, they just didn't have a name like Species 8472.
I remember that episode, that had me scared of the dark for a week...lolz

I do like that the lockbox ship spotlights are using the style of the old STO site. The showcasing of attack styles is more appropriate to these faction neutral ship designs. I also like the Legacy of Romulus logo with plasma burning around it at the conclusion.

My hope is that when exploration gets the love it needs, that re-introducing Federation starships in some forms of exploration mode will become the standard for ship spotlights there. Not just the weapons.

Sorry, but the Elachi box sucks:

The escort has decent stats, but isn't popular. The look just doesn't appeal. It's not all cool and spiky like the tal'shiar ships.
Yes, because a mess of random geometry with a pedantic texture looks great.

Better luck next time, maybe try a box from a group that people have actually heard of and care about.
Not popular? By who's standards? You're entitled to your opinion, obviously, but that's all it is - an opinion. I've seen numerous Elachi ships since the lockbox was released and own the Escort myself. Okay, perhaps it isn't THE most popular lockbox ship, but it's definitely popular enough that lots of players are using it.

Reference the Tal Shair ships; "Cool and spiky"?? Forced to disagree with you there - I don't find ANYTHING particularly "cool" about the Tal Shiar ships. And to be honest, I have yet to see one that did anything particularly effective in combat; heck, my little Fleet Nova spent most of an STF having to frequently heal one a few days back. They're all looks. If you like looking a random spiky nonsense.

The Elachi ships are unique and interesting, I own the Escort and find it an absolute BLAST to fly, and I could not disagree more about it's appearance - it certainly doesn't look like anything else that has appeared in Trek. The same definitely CANNOT be said about the Tal Shiar Nadara clones, pandering to those who will buy anything with a 'Borg' reference.

Cryptic,

Hopefully the lockbox is successful. Personally, I'm not really that interested in the Elanchi ships. I think the design is okay, and abilities fair as well. However, I only have so many toons, and I'm not really interested in this ship enough to open several lockboxes, or spend millions of EC to acquire it. Items that appeal to me however, in this box would be:

1) leadership Space trait
2) Wing Command Space trait

Glad to see these new traits! What would be great in the future would be somehow to get an additional trait slot, whether in game, or a lockbox unlock.

Items I was disappointed in seeing in the lockbox, was all of the Mirror Universe ship repeats from previous lockboxes. Personally, I would like to see all new ships designs form our current time line, or mirror universe spinoffs from vessels not yet copied.

With so many repeats, this time around, it did not seem prudent to me, to spend Zen on keys to open the Elachi lock boxes, which seems more like last nights leftovers, then brand new and exciting. As for the lobi, Being a Romulan fan, I am only spending Zen and lobi on Romulan themed items. For ships I have the Tal Shiar Destroyer & Battle Cruiser. As well as the Romulan version Temporal science and destroyer vessels. However, although I have lobi to buy the temporal shuttle, I am not interested, as their is no Romulan skin for the craft.

For myself, being a Romulan fan, I am most interested in Romulan specific content, as in items only created and available for Romulan captains. Second, to this I enjoy items that are available to all factions (such as the temporal science vessel) that has a Romulan skin variant. However, I am not interested in items that Romulans can use, that are available only in the skin of the their "allied" faction.

I havent seen many around, when the Temporal and the Tal Shiar come out you seen a lot of those around.

I dont think its popular because if it was, they wouldnt be doing a spotlight video, granted they did advertise the Tal Shiar one after but I think their popularity is on decline ... not really surprising since they are now selling Cryptic designs and none are offering any real power, until now we had cannon designs so if people wanted a Wells-Class or a D'Kora they could get then but that well run dry, in fact I would not be surprised if the poll about Voyager was not about what will be shoved into a lock box next.

That shows the inherit flaw on depending on Lock Boxes to such a high degree instead of the C-Store for monetization.

I seldom see any Elachi ships in space and ESTFs. Furthermore exchange price for elachi escorts dropped below 60 millions on the second day after release. I've never seen any other lockbox ship drop in price so fast. In the Trading Channel people are even complaining that they have trouble finding buyers for their elachi ships.

Seems like the majority of the playerbase is really not particularly interested in these ships.

And most importantly, the Elachi didn't come from any of the shows or movies, so hardly anyone knows who they are and most of us don't care.
I concur with your feelings on the DOff (+ vs Elachi) bonus. Far too specialized to make them useful.

AS for the Elachi species, they are (mostly) canon. An unknown species harassed the NX crew in the ST:ENT episode "Silent Enemy". That race was expanded upon in an ST:ENT novel, as well.

Did you even read your own source? They are listed under Apocrypha which is a Latin word meaning: non-canon.

Even in STO-canon it is not absolutely clear that these are the same race as Enterprise . They have the same facial features as neither the aliens from Enterprise nor the Elachi from STO.

You are right though, it is the worst one to date.

It has the least appeal, and just makes the whole LOR expansion an excuse to make a quick buck off their latest bad guys.
Ha, isn't that the truth

The last at least 2 for sure lock box's have been to me.. kinda garbage. Nothing interesting me to get anything. But honestly, with all the bugs and lack of fixing them, itll be awile before I give cryptic/pwe any more money. Though I'm saving up for a new street bike

Seems like it has a lot of copy/pasted items in these packs too, some usefull but some not so much.
