# 1 Custom Starship
08-29-2013, 11:32 AM
So I got my hands on a small fortune recently, and I clearly remember Dan Stahl stating in one of the interviews from one of the podcasts, that if a player paid the devs a thousand dollars, they'd make that player their own ship. We'll I happen to have a thousand dollars sitting on the shelf...Who do I contact to make such arrangements? Branflakes, help me out here, go talk to them for me. I got a serious offer and you know I will pay for what I want!

This should be a good one.

First you need to find and link to the exact quote so that you have proof such a thing was actually said. Then you have room to wheel-and-deal.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Well Dan might remember saying it. Even if he doesnt, I just want a romulan scimitar for my fed character, and maybe some unique title. ive spent over 21K on the game so far, looking at digital recipes from atari, pwe, from the preorder retail boxes, to the RAF promo, life sub, and a respec a day almost. I could have a car but instead I have STO so I mise well make something more of it. oh i forgot, i got every c ship and lockbox ship too, and its getting really hard to keep them all with only 30/35 ship slots cap.

I'm sure that they would, however I think they'd have to be sensible about it.

That's unrealistic. If you truly want a Scimitar with a Federation character, create a Romulan, ally them with the Federation and then buy your Scimitar.

I seriously doubt that they'd allow a Federation character the use of a Republic ship. There are reasons the Romulan faction exists. When they said "we'll create you any ship you want" I would expect they'd have had limitations. Whatever ship this be would first have to pass CBS, and knowing how strict they are, they'd laugh at your proposal.

If you've got the money, and Cryptic are game, then great, but you'd be best off sticking with a Federation ship if you're wanting this for a Federation character.

Edit: 21k on this game is insane! Just what have you bought? You've either got everything (and extras) or have been seriously unlucky with lock boxes.

Personally I don't see the point in the factions considering the way the games set up, everyone can use most any ship. What I mean is obvious, feds, kdf, and romulan players using jem hadar, cardassian, breen, ferengi and now tholian and elachi ships, and romulan republic players using romulan star empire ships, next we'll probably see everyone flying borg cubes and spheres.

As far as CBS approving or not approving a ship I think that's a load of crap because if they cared what ship anyone used they'd never have approved such a sloppy mix and match for the factions. They just want a piece of the money just like Cryptic does so as long as they see dollar signs in their eyes, I think they'd approve anything.

We'll Back before PWE took over I used to repec my character several times a day for space and ground stfs, so that means like 4 to 6 tokens a day. i would also choose a ship of the week so apart from the repecing for stfs, i had a spec for whatever ship i was flying. if it was an escort then i had points into weapons and which ever excort ship it was.

i dunno how long you've been playing but they used to have a different tree you specced into. so one week it might be science in the intrepid, the next week it'd be tactical in an advanced escort.

one of my "OCD" flaws is being a collector, not a hoarder, but a collector. I want to have every ship there is, every gun there is, back in the beginning, completing challeges like this was easy...every accolade, wall trophy. i think i was one of the first to get the "save the whales" one when it first came out all broken. I bought c-store items just for the hell of it, just so i could say i had it. A lot of the items did actually come in handy when I decided to level a klingon.

The problem is: Im an end game person. Thats the only part of the game I really care about. I hate questings and grinding. I only have one VA Fed and its a tac, one LTGEN and its a tac, and I've just created a rom tac. I've been away for a bit so I had some catching up to do.

Now days, all money goes into buying zen to either get zen related items, dil, or to buy keys and sell them for EC.

I guess I could go with a fed ship. Maybe even a made up one that isn't in any of the films or shows. I'd have to talk it over with them and come up with a solution.

another idea would be: to fund another ship compitition where people submit ships like they did for the Enterprise F. players could get the ship at Utopia Planitia. It could be an experimental ship like the Vet Ship Chimera-class.

I would go for the Ent J, which they actually did make a game model for, but I guess too much red tape from CBS, it never got past a screenshot for us all to look at. However alot of the early ship concept art, like a ship with a doughnut saucer I think there was, would be something intresting...Just dont bring back the lego galaxy!

I've run across something similar. I'd like the option of swapping to a ship at a moment's notice but the respec part of it annoys me. Some ships just require different skill specs to make them worthy of a ride. So often if I don't forsee myself using a particular ship it will collect dust in the galactic garage of things.
