So for anyone who missed my tirade in CatPhone, in short I'll say that I don't want to guard Kang in CSE anymore.
The long story:
We did a trio of ISE, CSE, and KASE tonight, in that order. Earlier today on the forums I posted about how the power creep has made the average firepower of players so incredibly high. I commented on the fact that in ISE, you can just ignore the 10% rule completely. I took note of how fast stuff died in ISE when we played it.
Then we did CSE. I guarded Kang as normal, the four others cleared the middle probes, and were working on right. After I killed BoP spawns in the middle, I just created an experiment on the spot. I, yes me, Voporak the grand master of space STFs, etc. etc., blew up the middle cube - even though I'd called for mrrmll. Yes, for me that was like blasphemy to everything that had ever been beaten into me concerning STF rules. And so we still got the optional. I knew that one year ago we couldn't have done that, probably.
And finally, KASE. I was guarding probes, but there just came a point during it when I was shooting at the 12,956th or so borg pill that I just got the sudden urge for a split second to put up my guns and stop shooting anything. Now of course I didn't, but it crossed my mind. Then when we got down to one gate left, a sphere got through the vortex (for the record, I've never seen a sphere go through). But guess what... I didn't actually care in the least. And then, Donatra. We shot at her, she cloaked and flew around, shot her some more, and then she decloaked with the green lines going. After a few seconds I just flew into it. I even saw Sandor's baseball of doom heading to Donatra, which would set off the thelaron - but I kept going. I popped my resists and sat there, facing the Valdore. Big green blast... but I lived with some hull left. A blast that should've destroyed me, I survived. I looked from my ship to Donatra, and that's when my liking of space STFs dropped from 'kinda boring' to 'I despise them'.
Bottom line? I don't wanna do Kang guard, or KASE guard, or pretty much any space STF. I can close my eyes and do an interactive scenario of them, I know them that well. They're boring to me now.
EDIT: As long as I'm in the mood for it, here's a list of things you may or may not have picked up on in STFs with me:
-I have an unwritten rule to start an STF when 3 out of the 4 people besides me say "ready/rdy/r" I've had people (no names) complain to me that I should wait for them, that if they say "brb", I can be expected to wait 10-15 minutes. Well no, I can't. If you say you will be back and give a reason, I'll wait for you. If you say "brb", I expect you'll be back within the time the STF is running and we can do it fine until you get back. If you do end up taking 10-15 minutes or more, well I'm sorry but that's just too bad. Heartless and cold? Perhaps in your interpretation. From my perspective, I have this block of text to justify starting it with 3 "rdy" responses.
-My biggest pet peeve in space STFs is people shooting BoPs outside of their lane in CSE and shooting the probes in KASE when I'm guarding them all. No, really, I'm serious. I have this thing about efficiency and it just sorta throws it off in my mind since you could've been shooting something else, and now I don't have anything to do for ten seconds... you get the point.
-I dislike RML because it has a chance of not working, however small, compared to mrrmll being pretty much guaranteed to succeed.

HEY! I did not intend to hit the KASE probes with my Torp spread. They happened to be in the way. And only time I shoot CSE BoPs is only when they hit me.
