# 1 Advice on my new ship please
10-28-2013, 11:16 AM
Hi All,

I've recently built me new beam cruiser & while I'm pretty happy so far with the setup, I could do with a little advice on what I can do to maximize my DPS.

Here is my current layout.....

As for active space Doffs, I have no idea on what would be best to get so any advice would be appreciated As I do not have excess millions in EC at the moment, The Marion doff is a little out of me range, which people have suggested to me b4

I've only ever flown escorts with cannons, so hopefully I have not messed this cruiser build too much

Please note, I have a mix of fleet advanced & elite beams on this ship, only because I could not make my mind up which were best

i have had some advice from fleet members which was great, I just want to finish this build off now and be as effective as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Hmm, broken link for me.

Aux2Bat with Technicians, or Damage Control Engineers are always handy on cruisers. A2B gives you better offense but worse heals, and you can get the doffs for free from running the B'tran Cluster colonization chain. Damage Control Engineers alternately give you CD reduction on your EPTx abilities, but only those abilities, but in exchange you keep your aux power for superior healing and access to skills like Aux2SIF and Aux2Damp. Offense vs defense, basically.

My phasers look ok?

I see ur not using torpedos, I have heard that having so many beam arrays are not good cuz of the power drain?

Can you confirm or deny?

Your ship layout looks a lot like mine, do you do lots of damage? Im thinking of ditching my torpedo and adding another beam array & tact console, I have noticed that with beams you have to be side on to target to get all beams working, with this in mind, i dont seem to use my torpedos as much now.

1. You have the experimental rom plasma, rom plasmas are the best in game for pve. Might as well outfit ship in them

2. There are many ways to combat the energy drain. Aux2bat, leech, marion, cruiser commands...

3. Answered...i think

4. Exactly, your going to broadsiding, why use weapons that won't be firing at all?

cyberpunk,

I'm doing something similar in a thread here with a Star Cruiser instead of a Fleet cruiser. Their advice is to go all out with the beam arrays because it maximizes damage output. I agree and see the math, although I'm going against their advice and keeping one fore and one aft torpedo, for the immersion part of it...

here's my current build that they are also critiquing...

My thread should be near yours in this category also, if you're interested in offering any advice on mine...
