It came to be suddenly as I was thinking the other day
Wouldn't it be great if the C-store offered Lobi Crystals without having to buy lockboxes?
I know you may be skeptical but think of it this way, if you charge 100 Zen for 40 Lobi it means all lobi ships will be 20 bucks US, so you get the 20 bucks from players who really want the Mirror Timeship escort, or the Tholian Carrier, or you even get 7.50 from a player who just wants a shuttle.
Think of the profits from this, I mean hardly anyone buys lockboxes for the lobi, but this way you can get money for what is bought at the Lobi store.
Just remember the 59th Rule of Acquisition if you take my idea :p
(Free advice is seldom cheap)
Not going to work. PWE already gets 125 zen for every 4 lobi crystals. You really think they're going to follow your math and make those Lobi ships available for a mere $20 when they already make $250 per single-claim ship?
Besides, nobody buys lockboxes for the Lobi. It's the keys that are where the money is.
And before anyone says anything, keep in mind where the zen on the dilithium exchange comes from: Other players. You think you're sticking it to PWE when the reality is that someone had to buy the zen to put on the exchange in order for you to grind dilithium to get.

Unlikely, Lobi are supposed to be the 'consolation prize';
"You've opened two hundred lockboxes and gotten nothing but DOff Mini-packs and Fleet Mark and Credit bonuses - that you can't use because you're not in a fleet! - but look, now you can BUY yourself a fancy new ship, so it's all okay, isn't it? Sure, you missed out on that Ferengi D'Kora you bought all those Ferengi Lockboxes for, but now you've got a bright, shiney Jem'hadar Dreadnought Carrier!"
Though with Lobi now being Bound to Account, who knows, it might actually go up in value since you can now consolidate it among your characters and move it where it's needed...
