I use a scimitar with my Romulan Tactical. As it currently stands it has proven itself to me many times over in Elite STFs. I am able to go 1v1 with Borg Cubes, not Tactical Cubes, and rip them to shreds while suffering only a small amount of damage, if any at all. My deaths in Elite STFs are typically attributed to either the Gateways have too much free time, or I make a very stupid mistake, like being to close to a dying NPC.

Below is what I am aiming to do with my scimitar in the end.

http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skil...mitar1132013_0

Keeping my shields up isn't a typical problem thanks to the Valdore console because of how often it procs for me. The mentioned Prefire Chamber is going to be the Spire console.

The bridge officers with CRFs and THYs can be swapped out for ones with CSVs and TSs of equal level.

With the build above I will keep a few other universal consoles in my inventory for modifying my ship as the situation demands. I also keep my Elite Scorpion Fighters on hand in case I need them.

And I do use the Thalaron Pulse on the bosses. My record high so far is 150,286 (77056) Radiation Damage (Critical). And it was against Assimilated Carrier In Cure Space Elite. I have hit Donatra's Scimitar and the Tactical Cube for 70k or more consistently. I typically hit at about 50k to 70k with it when I activate my Tactical Fleet 2, Attack Pattern Alpha 3, Fire on my Mark 3, I use one of my Large Aux Batteries.

And this build is still annoying in PvP as well, thanks to the Battle Cloak, Singularity Distributor Console, and Cloaked Barrage.

Hey everybody,

I've put together this Scimitar and wanted to get some opinions on it.

http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=stonewbscim_0

Cdr Tac boff, Lt Eng boff and Lt Sci boff are all SRO
LCdr Tac and Lt Eng are Sub (they dont stack, but both were quest rewards or free)

I am 2 days away from tier 2 with all my rep. Here is what i had planned for now:

EDIT: the blank spot in my rear weapon slot is the omni AP BA which i already have
-zero point energy conduit
-KCB
-KHG shield+engines
-assimilated deflector ?
-i got the torpedo launcher for cheap, but i dont like plasmas since HY are destructible. Looking for some Quantum XII [crth]x3. until i can get a tier 4 launcher from rep.

For my BoFF abilities i wonder if i have too many shield heals. Maybe drop one EPTS1 for an EPTW1? I will keep secondary shields and sing distributor unit consoles on there until i get comfortable with any boff adjustments. One is going to get replaced soon anyways with the ZPEC console, and the other one will get replaced probably with a disruptor induction console.

And since i'll be running elites mostly pugs i was thinking about getting rid of CSV and getting another copy of CRF. I mention pugs because if i try to CSV a pack and get aggro on the whole pack i'm on my own. If i stick to single target dps at least the damage if i get aggro is manageable. Maybe even upgrade my CRF to LCdr slots and take THY and APB which are now in LCdr and bump those down to Lt (basically flipping CRF+THY and CRF+APB around).

so thoughts?

I went ahead and added points to help buff plasmonic leech. I also said screw it and just maxed out my two CRF. Right now i'm just having a hard time deciding between photon and quantum.

photons with the dps vs quantums with the damage and trying to see which one will benefit me more if i am running two copies of THY.

I only have one suggestion. In your skill tree I would lower you warp core efficiency, warp core potential, shield performance, and engine performance to six points. In other words stop in the yellow. Add these points to flow capacitor. If you max it out you will double the reward from Plasmonic Leech. Instead on draining one point per stack you can get two, or one point nine. Take the rest if you have any and go ahead and max attack patterns.

I used to roll a build like that, with lots of the universal consoles. In the end though, the raw firepower provided from 4-5 tac consoles really did outweigh the collective bonuses the uni consoles gave. Don't get me wrong, your build will work nicely. Just don't get upset when you're being out-performed, lol.

I would ditch the thy for torp spread if using plasma torpedoes, this allows for multi spamming of plasma fires. Also the heavy reliance on dhc's only is kind of limiting unless your targets are always in that 45* arc. If you really want to stay with them than make use of at least one csv to go with that spread. If you are going to use the 360* ap beam than all your weapons should be ap, and lose the torp console and stick with the khg 2 pc set bonus. Also 2 eng armor consoles are not a necessity for pve so work a uni or something in there so it can free up one of the tac slot for 3 tac energy consoles minimum. Otherwise it looks to be a decent build.

Please go back one page on this board and we had 2 really good threads on this topic. If you want to do awesome DPS in a scimatar, you need to ditch the universal consoles and go beams. The Link where I asked them to rip apart my build is as follows:

http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/sh...d.php?t=889351

Please follow the advice from those threads if you want superior Scimatar dps.

shadow,

I just hit 50 a while ago so i am still working on the gear. I would like to have all AP weapons and once i'm in a fleet i can start working on that. For now i take what i can get. I'm also not going to go with TS, though the tactic you mentioned does sound good. I went with all single target abilities cause i mostly pug. So if i want to take on a pack i want to be able to take care of myself. Once i get better gear i should be able to do that.

The gear you have listed currently is adequate to handle stf elites even if you grab agro from multiple enemies. The survivability comes mainly from your choice of boff skills and your own skills, but you already are aware of that so make good use of the cloak when things get a bit much as the 2 pc. scimitar set you chose allows for shield regen while cloaked. And keep experimenting you will find the setup that fits your likes!

Hey again everybody,

I wanted to go over a few things for my build.

My accuracy is at 22.7%, crit is 13.9%, crit severity is 77.9%.

How are the stats on weapons calculated? I can take off all 8 weapon slots but my 3 stats above will stay the same. But if i take off a console with crit or severity my stats do change. All four of my DHCs are 4% crit chance and 10% crit severity each. Does that mean my actual crit % is 13.9 + 16? Or did they do something weird like if DHC #1 fires then the stats on that weapon only are added to the totals above? which would cause mix-matched weapons with different modifiers to have different chances to hit/crit/severity?

Reason i ask is cause I was thinking about doing the mission repeat four times so that i can get the plasma-disruptor DHCs. DPS is slightly higher since they are XI but the stat modifiers are 10% crit severity and 7.5% accuracy. So if i swap out all 4 DHC i loose 16% crit total and i gain 30% accuracy total. Crit severity between the two weapons are both 10% of course so that doesnt change.

I picked the weapons cause they are easy to get and i can still use my disruptor tac consoles. Also this is just a general question about doing missions on harder difficulties. If i were to do this mission as a repeat but on Elite difficulty does it give me an XII? or XII very rare? or does the quality stay the same regardless of difficulty?
