With all the energy weapons in game, and vastly more effective ways to create mass murder in the Trek universe.I play all my melee specialist captains one way. Like total sociopaths.

So inhumane superweapons, mass murder, and canon nonsense is okay, but speedos are too much for some people.

Am I the only one to mention that the main reason for running with your sword over your head is for purely safety reasons?

If you trip and fall, you don't impale yourself. It's also why you never run with scissors, and if you do, you make sure that they're pointing downwards. The sword sprint uses the same logic. You fall like that, your sword falls behind you. If you were holding it the opposite way, the sword is in the position to impale you in the chest if you fall. It also has to do with energy efficiency in terms of motion -- with a lower center of gravity, you keep yourself on balance with the sword over your head in that position. The additional weight helps keep you steady and allows you to move faster (in addition to safer).

The animation artists got this one right in terms of realism. Although I can't disagree in terms of the energy whip (which should use a less goofy animation).

The sword animation used to be the one copied over from Champions Online, but they altered it to its present appearance -- if you think it looks goofy now, it looked even goofier when your character looked like he belonged in a comic book in terms of posing with a sword.

Now I know you are trolling but it is all good. please do not make safety videos. For safety one would hold the sword with the blade facing behind them and edge away from the body at hip level. if we had double edged swords it would be edge up and down because when falling that would put the edges flat with the ground.

Why have the blade face behind you... easy hold something in your hand like a stick and pretend to fall forward. if the blade was facing forward as you fall it would then be under you where you would land on it. facing behind you and it would natuaraly be on one side or the other depending on which hand it was in.

As for center of gravity and holding the blade above the head while running. Holding it above your head would move that center up making trip hazards more likely to drop you because you are not used to a higher center of gravity. try running with a 10lb weight suspended by one arm over your head and see if its better than at your waist.

Never seen the one in Champions Online, but the one in Neverwinter last I recall was good.
