Some characters were stuck in a loading screen with a "Server Not Responding" message
I'm not going to go on the typical "OMG! THIS IS B.S.! I PAID AND THERE ARE PROBLEMS AND NOW I AM GOING TO CANCEL" rant. That's just plain ignorant. I do wonder a few things however.
1.) Client seeding via torrent. Maybe a little pre-planning here would have been a good idea. Currently, I see 600 seeds and 6,000 leeches. I've been downloading this on a 15Mbit pipe that only has me on it since midnight last night. Currently, I have 27% of the client. Fun.
2.) This one may be my fault, but I can't see where in the links to download from the other sites are. If I click on the Steam link, it wants me to pre-order. Same with the others. I already did that through gamestop (huge mistake). Did I miss something?
3.) Key distribution nightmares. Along with the horror stories I've read on here, I've had a miserable time with this as well. I ordered 3 copies of the DELUXE edition from gamestop at $80/each. On the day (yesterday, the 11th) that I was supposed to get my beta keys, I got exactly one. Today, I finally got the second. But still not the 3rd. This may not be STO's fault, but somewhere, someone dropped the ball on the distribution side of things.
I know that this is a new venture for the company and I played WoW from nearly the beginning, so I was around to watch Blizzard's growing pains. (Which almost made me skip STO because I didn't want to go through that again) Just remember, one of your best sources of information is the user base. Ignore all the screaming, quitting, and crying and you'll have a wealth of information to help better the user experience.
