So inhumane superweapons, mass murder, and canon nonsense is okay, but speedos are too much for some people.

This recalls an old question in my mind: I wonder how long it will be until standardized gaming will be considered at least a 3-viewscreen setup? That is, a main front screen, and two peripheral screens with true peripheral view, not just a concave main view, though a wrap around with true peripheral would be great.

For me, it would be very interesting to have the same view as in real life, able to see an opponent sneaking up on the side. Does Oculus Rift do that?

Supposedly. Never used one myself though.
