If an NPC ship flies into an asteroid or something else that would be a collision target for a player, the player cannot attack the NPC until it flies out of the obstacle.

Note, this does not stop the NPC from attacking the player.

Just a bump to make sure it gets noticed.

Are you talking about clicking on the NPC to target him? Or does this happen even when you hit Tab or activate the weapons?

The NPC is targeted, but you can't fire on them even when they are within the firing arcs because they are technically behind an obstacle.

I have experienced this also- I've noticed that enemy ships seem to get 'hung up' on objects (asteroids, mainly) and at that you cannot fire on them when they are in this state (they, otoh, can fire on you). The only way to unhang them is to fly away from them and wait for them to untangle.

Collision physics is the only part of space combat I don't like actually.
