Please no flaming, trolling.....all that.

Alidar was the Romulan for the the next gen episode "Defector"

I wanted to discuss his loyalty. Is he a traitor or were his actions those of a man with the utmost loyalty to his people if not his government? Your thoughts?

aloishammer was referring to the fact that, with few exceptions, most threads have to be about STO (feedback about Fed ships in the Fed Shipyards, for example).

Anything else, including about ST in general, must go to the Ten-Forward one

Sorry chris; I should have mentioned that earlier
Was named Trek17, but still an author.

Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh'.

As far as the Romulans are concerned Jarok was a traitor and Picard even called him a traitor as well even though Jarok didn't want to admit it to himself. His loyalty was already in doubt well before the encounter on the enterprise in the neutral zone, that was the whole point in what happened on the episode no matter what he may of thought, the Romulan superstate didn't want him.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 and LTS in Apr 2013.

A true statesman of the people sometimes must be a traitor to the powers that be.

He did it for Romulus. He thought they were wrong, and tried to protect them, to prevent a war that would have decimated both his people and the Federation. He was tricked, but he didn't knew that.

As for his loyalty, I guess it was the loyalty of most parent, to his family first. Hero, traitor, the line is thin, in the end he was just a father.

I believe he did what he did for the protection of his people. Consider those that started the U.S. It could be said they at one time betray their government yet they are called patriots. Could the same be said of jarok?

And this.

It is said that treason is a play in which the players and characters are not revealed until long after the final curtain.
