This is true, and I don't believe that the weapons as a whole should be on par with one another. (For one thing, Elachi weapons come with a complete set of modifiers and are up to MK XII purple, while Piecing Tetryon are only up to MK XI Blue, no modifiers.) As a weapon, Elachi weapons are going to be better no matter what, as long as they're of a higher mark and rarity, this is more of asking for their procs to be evened out someway. A common MK I Phaser has the same proc as an Advanced Fleet MK XII Phaser, and yet one weapon is most definitely better than the other.

This change is akin to having a new weapon type be released with the same exact proc as say, disruptors, but instead of -10 damage resistance debuff, it gave -20. Without any sort of compensation for the improvement. Sure, you may find disruptor weapons that are better than certain instances of this new weapon, but it doesn't change the fact that it's proc is rather obviously less effective.

Not really... piercing tets are not intended to ever be an end game weapon. They are not really a weapon type just a mission reward one off. Like the fed tetryons that have a 10% chance to proc... or the hybrid Disruptor plasma DHC reward missions. They are intended to make it easy to level your toon up... and then be dumped when you are done so you can pick up a proper weapon.

The P Tets where never intended to be compared with real end game weapons. Just like we don't ask why end game tetryons don't have 10% chance to proc like the mission rewards do.

Polarized Tetryon weapons are balanced out just as any special proc weapon is, though they don't so much have a special proc as they have more of the same proc. They come with no modifiers, as what modifiers they could have are replaced by three additional 2.5 chance to proc shield drain. So one could either get a Tetryon beam array with [Dmg][Acc]x2 or a Polarized Tetryon beam array with three additional 2.5% chance to proc, but not both.

That aside, like I said before, I'm not looking for weapon balancing, but proc balancing. The Piercing Tetryon weapons aren't going to be equal to Elachi weapons, but there's no reason at all that one should have a vastly inferior proc, as procs are exactly the same no matter what mark, level, or raity a weapon they're on is.

And so, if we have a proc with a 2.5% chance to ignore 100% shields and 50% damage resistance be changed to have the same, but numerically better, effects of a proc with only 2.5% chance to ignore 50% shields, then wouldn't the latter be changed to compensate?

There is a reason they should have a vastly inferior proc though. They are a mission reward. That is the reason. They also not even the same type of weapon. Elachi are disruptors not tets.

The new link tetryon beams are 10% chance to crit... by your logic that is = to 4 modifiers (so sure you trade all modes for that proc rate)... they are not unbalanced however because it is not an actual weapon proc just like piercing tets are not an actual weapon type. They are a one off mission reward weapon and proc. A weapon that is intended to be used for a few days at most while you are leveling. So there relative strength in relation to the games actual weapon types really doesn't matter any.

If piercing tetryon weapons existed in a lockbox you would have a point. However they do not they are not intended to be used out side of Romulan toons level 25-30... and perhaps up to 50 if you really feel the need to be replaying that mission to earn them. When you hit 50 they are intended to be dropped.

While everyone else drones on about Elachi Disuptors (funny of all the threads I have read about the best weapons in the game (it's Antiproton, no it's Plasma, no it's Romulan Plasma, no dispruptors are just good overall, etc. I have heard nary a word about Elachi Disruptors being the wrath of God type stuff until this change.

Now for something completely different, to the bullit I quoted above - great news. You do know that the Ferengi Na'Far Shuttle's Metaphasic Shield is also missing from the Reclaim Tab?

Proc chance increased to 2.5%, up from 1%
Hey Bort,

I know it's going live but you seem to be monitoring this thread, so...

Is this a change to a standard per cycle proc or is this per plink like the Valdore console? Once per second seems to suggest per plink, but I gotta ask.

Thanks!
