Do you think it's worth upgrading my Torp Spread to III?
How do you have so many high critical chances?? , we assume you using all SO boffs, right?

Hey, maybe someone in this thread might help me fit up my scimitar. Here's what I'm looking at:

I have a reman sci captain and and a tactical scimitar. I've been using a normal setup with aux to battery, 7 plasma beams (caustics, had a long break and I'm still raising my reps) and a borg cutting beam. However I feel that it's very boring to play that way and scimitar looks silly firing broadsides as it's clearly designed to fire forward plus not having a torp on a ship is not very authentic trek to my tastes.

So, as the dyson rep is rising fastest, I was thinking of putting together a scimitar with dual beam protonic polaron banks, the proton weapon, the gravity torps and the lot, together with dyson tactical consoles buffing proton damage. Would that actually work or would it be terrible? I'm not looking for 30k dps since I'm not gonna pvp with this character and not like infected space elite even needs that. An 'ok' ship would work for me but not a terrible one. I have plasmonic console available but not the valdore one.

It would be terrible. Scimi doesn't have the turn rate to use dhc or dbb. It won't come close to the dps of escorts sporting the same weapons, much less beam array cruisers.

Valdore console haven't reached the "mandatory" status of plasmonic leech, but you should still have it.

Meh, so basically scimitar is a one-trick beam broadside boat at the moment? It might be good dps but it''s so boring to play. Guess I'll hop to the refit mini warbird again (the one with destabilized plasma console) or get some mirror universe refit on the cheap.

Blame it on FAW Online.

Yeah, right.

I run a turret/DHC scimi, no fleet weapons, only 1 fleet tac console, and the thalaron set.

I can solo Borg tac cubes without dying even once. Takes me 5 minutes on a good day, 10 on a bad one, but I can do it.

Anyone who says single-beam FAW spam is the only way to use a scimi has never, ever flown ISE in a really good alpha-striking scimi.

I've ran 5x Miranda ISEs before. And it was fun. It's also besides the point.

Look, my Scimitar has easily out-DPSed full fleet-outfitted bugships, and it's not even fully specced yet.

I've also out-DPSed a number of beam scimis, although I will admit that my alphas are a part of that.

Cannon Scimis are not weak.

That's correct plus the Gravimeteric Torpedo also has a natural +6% crit chance. Sorry for being away from the forums for a few days, it's been a busy week. To answer the questions on my starship, it's just for PvE with GW1 to gather the mobs and then pummel them with the torp;s rifts. I'm still working on tier-5 reps across the board;

Tholian Recluse
Gravimeteric Torp & Experimental Weapon
Kinetic Cutting Beam
3x Protonic Beam Arrays MK XII
Elite Fleet Deflector, Warp Core and Shield.
Plasmonic Leech, Zero Point Conduit, Borg Assimilated Console, Proton Particle Stablizer
4x Flow Caps or 4x Particle Gens
2x tact Polaron Consoles Mk XII
2x Adv mesh Weavers
