# 1 Buying a new Video Card
01-28-2010, 04:18 PM
I am buying a new video card for my computer and I want to be sure that I am getting the best product for my money.

SPECs: Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.4GHz
Ram: 3 GB
OS: Vista

These are the cards I am looking at:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814261062
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125286

I am trying to keep the price under $130 for the Video card. Looking for something at 1GB Memory and 256-bit.

Let me know what you think.

Go with the gigabyte, the 250 gts is a decent card but Palit hasent got enough cooling on that unit to support STO's high fps output. The gigabyte looks much much better

I also need to buy a Power Supply for the new card; looking for something in the 450 - 550 range. Something that will fit in a standard HP Pavilion case.

Thanks for the suggestion, I think I like the Gigabyte card too.

The GTS250 is a rebranded 9800GTX+, so for less than a 9800GT it's the smarter choice.

If you can afford it an ATI 5770 is probably the best bang per buck atm.
