I did the shortcut directly to the exe and stopped the steam client from updating it anymore. I still had to let it finish though. Now im waiting for the 900MB update from cryptic to finish but I have a pretty fast connection so hopefully Ill be able to start playing again in a little while.
Man I hope this never happens again, it's very upsetting to have to go through this.
